Victory of the Daleks

I am looking forward to tonight’s episode of Doctor Who, Victory of the Daleks.

I’ve always enjoyed watching the Daleks in Doctor Who. However this episode combines the Daleks and World War Two, which makes it doubly interesting.

Lot of gaming potential with Daleks and World War Two.

Thinking my expectations might be a little too high for this episode!

Snakebitez Ork Boar Boyz

This week Games Workshop announced the release of some new Orc Boar Boyz for Warhammer Fantasy Battle.

Orc Boar Boyz are rough, tough and very determined. They ride into battle atop War boars – evil-minded creatures that will take every opportunity to maim, bite and kick the enemy of their Orc masters. Boar Boyz are the shock cavalry of an Orc and Goblin army, and they love nothing better that to gore, stamp and inflict damage on the enemy.

These are very nice looking plastic miniatures.

I can’t be the only Warhammer 40,000 Ork player looking at these new models and thinking time to add some Boar Boyz for my Feral Orks.

I have done this before with some other Warhammer Fantasy Orc Boar Riders.

Forge World Generator

One of the purchases I made from Forge World was the generator.

One of the key things you need to do with virtually all Forge World models is to give them a good wash.

When the Forge World models are cast, the mould is given a spray (I guess) of some kind of lubricant to allow the cast model to be released from the mould easily. However the lubricant also acts as a barrier to paint, so as happened with previous models I (and others) have painted is that the paint flecks off.

Washing the model in water with a drop of washing up liquid should remove the lubricant. Avoid using hot water as this could warp the resin (a useful tip if you need to warped resin back to its original shape).

Once washed the model is then ready for painting. The model was given a black undercoat.

Eldar Wraithlord

This is an impressive Eldar Wraithlord.

It was an entry in the UK 2006 Golden Demon Awards.

Towering over its foes, the Wraithlord is controlled by the essence of one of the craftworld’s mightiest warriors. Able to be equipped with a wide variety of Heavy Weapons, Assault Weapons and even a close combat weapon the Wraithlord is an extremely versatile component in the Eldar battleplan.

Wot no commentaries?

One of the nice parts of previous seasons of the new Doctor Who  were the associated commentaries available to download (as a podcast). I use to listen to them a day or two after watching the episode and get a real insight into how the episode was made. It certainly explained the effort, skill and work put into the series by the Doctor Who team.

With the new season of Doctor Who, there doesn’t appear to be any commentaries, that’s a pity.
