Forge World Newsletter #148

++++ MESSAGE BEGINS ++++

Today’s Forge World Newsletter contains some news on our huge 40K scale Tau Manta, a suggestion for how to use our new Tau DX-4 Technical Drones and last order dates for some of our forthcoming shows. The main news feature for this issue is the release of several new Tyranid Carnifex biomorphs: Read on and enjoy.
Thx,

Ewen Little and Alan Bligh,
Forge World.

Tyranid Carnifex Biomorphs
A monstrous new development for your Tyranid collection is our new range of Wrecker biomorphs for Carnifexes designed by Daniel Cockersell. Available as either complete models or as several conversion kits, these new additions can easily be used to represent the Wrecker Stratagem option in Cities of Death games allowing you to smash your way through barricades and smash buildings to rubble. They are also perfect for representing numerous biomorphs taken from the Tyranid Codex such as Crushing Claws, Reinforced Chitin, Thornback, Tusked, Tail-Weapon Scythe and more. We have taken the opportunity to present an example of a fully biomorphed ‘Stone-Crusher’ Carnifex below using all of our new upgrades. Also, those among you with a taste for Chaos might consider using our new wrecker components to make for a particularly monstrous daemon possessed Dreadnought or brutal Daemon Prince! Each of these great new conversion parts and the complete Carnifex models are available to pre-order now for release from Monday July 31st.

Stone-Crusher Carnifex
Stone-Crushers are seen at the vanguard of the swarm’s assault against besieged positions where their strength and savagery make a mockery of the strongest fortifications to slaughter the defenders within. Carnifex (85 points) + Crushing Claws (25 points) + Thornback (15 points) + Tusked (10 points) + Extended Carapace (25 points) + Toxin Sacks (6 points) + Tail Weapon – Scythe (10 points) + Rending Claws (3 points) = 179 points. Alan has told me that this beast could get up to eight S10 attacks when charging!

40K Tau Manta – The wait is nearly over…
Earlier this week, Will Hayes finished work on the master model of our long awaited Tau Manta. This monstrous model is now going off into the mysterious world of ‘pre-production’ where they do all that is necessary to prepare each part for casting. When we last weighed the Manta, it measured in at over 13 kilogrammes/29 pounds! We don’t know how much it will cost just yet, but any further news and photos of this amazing model will appear in the Forge World Newsletter soon. As of today, Forge World hope to be able to release the 40K Tau Manta in October and if we are lucky, we also hope to have a few pre-release Mantas on display and for sale at Games Day UK at the end of September. There, the Manta will be just one of many new and exciting models and releases we hope to have completed.

Tau DX-4 Technical Drones
We showed these cool little models to you in our last newsletter and judging by the amount of pre-orders they are quite popular. A long-time customer emailed us to suggest using them as the spotter/controller for Tau Sniper Drone teams! We thought was a great idea and decided to share it with you all in this issue. Cheers Shep!

Grey Knights Veteran Sergeants

If you have looked at my Grey Knights Landspeeder you will realise that I am attempting to paint a Grey Knights force which goes beyond the listings in the DaemonHunters Codex. What I am trying to do is to create a Grey Knights force (using the Space Marine Codex) and then using a DaemonHunters force as allies.

One thing I will be using are ordinary Space Marines conveted and painted as Grey Knights. As well as ordinary Marines I am going to use some of the Space Marine Veterans as they look very ornate with their purity seals and stuff.

Here are the parts from the blister.

The parts were cleanly cast and needed minimal cleaning.
