Apocalypse

I have finally got my copy of the Apocalypse rulebook. I was kind of expecting that Santa would be bringing me a copy, however Santa saw that I had received in the post the Forge World Apocalypse book and assumed (wrongly) that I had gone out and bought it myself!

So there I was with the Forge World book and no actual Apocalypse book, so I went out in the sales and bought a copy (and alas it wasn’t reduced).

I am kind of disappointed with it, I don’t know maybe I was expecting more. It’s a pity there aren’t more colour pictures, I guess I was spoiled by the Forge World version which at £20 is £10 cheaper and seems to have a lot more colour in it. Don’t get me wrong, I love the big four page spreads, the Ork spread of islands is fantastic and very inspiring. I also like the armoured train and termite which are shown.

Maybe I was expecting more from the rules, maybe I wanted more datasheets for my Orks.

So far I have not had a game of Apocalypse but will do so at some point in the future, a nice big game against Simon, he has Imperial Guard (lots of tanks and guns) and Space Marines, whilst I will be using my Orks and Inquisitorial forces, now there’s an alliance which will take some justifying…
