Wartrakk Track Concept

One of the things I have been wanting to do with my new Wartrakk model is change the tracks from the supplied ones to ones made from the Imperial Track sprue (which I originally got as part as the Gorkamorka Gubbinz bag).

Unfortnately I had in fact tried something with the track parts and they were all stuck together… After a little persuasion, I did manage to break it apart.

This is an idea of what I am trying to do.

They are wider than the supplied tracks, but I think it may work.

Ork Anti-Dropship Flakwagon

For taking down those pesky Space Marine Landing Craft…

This is my Ork Anti-Dropship Flakwagon.

The concept is that upon sighting an Imperial Dropship (or similar) it would fire all three rockets and attempt to take it down.

It is also used on the battlefield as a heavy artillery piece as well.

It is an Ork Flakwagon with the side panels cut off. A Hydra central unit (from the main weapon) is stuck onto the back and then three Pulsa Rokkits are stuck on that.

It could also be used as a Ork Soopagun.

Ork Looted Rhino

There are Orks who have looted Imperial weaponry. Not only can they use Space Marine weapons they can also borrow the transport option… Check out how I am painted the Lootaz. The starting point for the Looted Rhino was a Chaos Rhino.

I then spent some time looking on the web for other Looted Rhinos. An obvious model to look at was the Forgeworld Looted Rhino.

This conversion kit contains quite a few resin pieces which replace substantial parts of the original plastic kit.

This includes new doors, a new front panel and additions to the engine panels and exhausts. Forgeworld also had another Looted Rhino on their GamesDay display.

This conversion had a death roller and various Orky panels as well as a Big Shoota and grenade launchaz.

I have been looking on the web to see how other people have been converting Rhino’s for use as an Ork Looted Rhino.

One such (now defunct) site is Scarpia’s Warhammer World which has an article on how to convert a Rhino into a looted Ork version.

Though I do think this is a nice model, it still looks too Imperial for my liking.

Having taken on all these various versions I decided on a particular course of action. I would redo the side doors, the front panel, the rear door. I would also redo the top door and try and make a variant or two which could jsut slot into place. I wouldn’t have a roller, but would use one of the Chaos spikey front ends. I decided to use the Chaos Havoc Launcher with a Killa Kan and use the supplied Burna with the Rhino.

Killa Kan with Rokkit Launcha

One of the presents I got over Christmas was an Ork Killa Kan. I already have two of these clunking small Ork Dreadnoughts. This model will now give me a mob of three.

This is quite an old model now and is all metal. There are various components and as with most Games Workshop metal models no instructions! This particular model came with a Burna (flamer).

Having thought about it, I decided to arm this Killa Kan with a Rokkit Launcha to go along with the other two which also have Rokkit Launchaz. I didn’t have a spare Ork Rokkit Launcha to hand, so decided to use the Missile Launcher from the Chaos Vehicle sprue.

Having glued the two halves together which needed a bit of filing for a snug fit, I added the engine on the back. The Rokkit Launcha I made according to the instructions.

Using a small piece of plastic rod I glued it to the Rokkit Launcha and glued to the arm hole on the Killa Kan.

I now need to stick on the rest of the metal parts add some more Ork Gubbinz to make it more Orky. I will also need to find a base as they now come with the smaller 40mm round bases rather than the bigger 60mm bases they use to come with and what my other two are based on.

Grots

You can never have enough Grots (especially if you want to use them as ammo grunts).

I have started painting some more Grots, unlike my Orks I use a white undercoat as I want them to be lighter than the Orks.

The detailing on these models are excellent and they are full of character.

Once the white undercoat is done, the skin tones are painted in Goblin Green.

The next stage will be a highlight of Scorpion Green (as with my Gun Krew Grots).
