Junka Trukk

It’s not uncommon for Feral Ork tribes to capture vehicles left by other forces. These vehicles will have been heavily damaged, and it’s rare that a Feral Ork tribe will either have the mechanical expertise or spare parts needed to get them going. But that does not stop the Tribes from cobbling things together with their boilers and boars to make surprisingly effective war machines.

The Junka Trukk is a model from the Epic Armageddon range.

Having a Trukk model hanging around… I decided that I would see if I could build a 28mm Junka Trukk. It would be more Trukk than the Epic version, but the idea would be the same, cobbling things together with their boilers and boars to make surprisingly effective war machines.

I built the Trukk according to the instructions, but added two extra parts, a Rhino frontal armour plate to the front and a Land Raider top front door to the rear. I had these parts left over from using resin Forge World doors.

I then added a Rhino side door as a roof to the cab of the trukk. I also added the trukk’s frontal armour plate to the Rhino front armour plate I had already stuck into place.

Of course needs more junk!

Ork forces in the desert

Here is a group shot of my desert style Ork vehicles.

Ork armoured vehicles on the move

There are a real mix of old and new models, metal and resin.

As you can see I have followed *fashion* and I have based the miniatures which has its advantages and disadvantages.

Epic Ork Trukks

I have since photographing these got some more brown paints from GW so I can continue the brown theme but maintain a distinctness between the vehicles.

Junkatrukks

Here are two more Junkatrukks for my Feral Ork army, which will also be used as vehicles for my Ork Airfield Defence Force…

Junkatrukks

I know they could do with some detailing and maybe the odd glyph or two…

The models were painted vomit brown and then given an ink wash.

Before I would use a plain ink wash, but after reading an article on Dropship, I added some Scorched Brown to the ink and water mix and as a result the finished models are not as glossy as when I have used an ink wash.

The models were then drybrushed with the original base coat to highlight and to matt down the slight glossness caused by the wash.

Here are two Junkatrukks that I have finished for my Feral Ork Army.

I know they could do with some detailing and maybe the odd glyph or two…

The models were painted orange and light brown and then given an ink wash.

Before I would use a plain ink wash, but after reading an article on Dropship, I added some Vomit Brown to the ink and water mix and as a result the finished models are not as glossy as when I have used an ink wash.

Also you may notice for my Feral Orks that I (for once) am following fashion and I am basing my vehicles…

Epic Junkatrukks

I have made some progress with my Feral Ork Junkatrukks.

They have been undercoated.

Epic Ork Junkatrukks

I much prefer using a white undercoat when painting models in reds, yellows or orange. If I am going for a dark look then I will use a black undercoat.

I have also added the metal areas, by given them a base coat of black.

Epic Ork Junkatrukks

This will be drybrushed with Tin Bitz and Boltgun Metal, I will then touch up the white areas before painting the bodywork in reds, yellows and orange colours.

Epic Junka Trukks

Using Epic Armageddon Battlewagonz as Feral Ork Junkatrukks…

I have decided to use two type of model for my Feral Ork army. One is original Epic40K Flagwagons the other are the new Epic Armageddon Battlewagonz.

The Battlewagonz blister contains five models of three types.

Epic Junka Trukks

They are very nice models.

Though I would say that the Epic40K flakwagon (being in three parts) is more detailed then the new all-in-one Battlewagon variant contained in this blister.
