One of the highlights of GamesDay 2009 for me was the fantastic Ork Shanty Town display that Forge World did. There were many of the new Forge World models including the excellent Ork Halftrakk. The model in this photograph is armed with an Ork Kil Kannon.
Our new Ork Halftrakk model, designed by Will Hayes and Owen Branham, is a hybrid kit of the plastic Ork Trukk and resin conversion parts which you can see here. This model uses highly detailed resin components to replace the Trukk`s engine block with a more powerful engine and its standard wheels with some armoured front road wheels and a heavy rear track unit. While you can easily use the Ork Halftrakk to represent a `Kustom` Trukk in your Ork Army, (and makes a great Meganob transporter!)
The Kil Kannon is one of the many new heavy weapons from Forge World.
The Kil Kannon fires either large bore frag rounds to use against enemy infantry, or a solid shell for destroying tanks.
I really like this model, which combined with the “normal” plastic Trukks gives the Orks a variety of vehicles that you would expect to find in their forces.
One of the highlights of GamesDay 2008 was the THQ Lifesize Rhino. I managed to get a few images of the beasty.
You can see the full gallery on my website.
Of course after GamesDay a video of the Rhino driving about was released.

It was a pity that we didn’t see it at GamesDay 2009.
The more I look at my Ork army, especially the unpainted stuff, I start to realise how unbalanced the force is. I have way too much Heavy Support and much less of everything else.
What only now you realise this?
I have very few HQ and Elite units, though in comparison more Troops and Fast Attack types.
Why is this?
Forge World to be honest.
Can I help it that they make such wonderful Ork vehicles and tanks? The recent new stuff is fantastic.
Not really sure what to do about it. Well I like the models so getting rid of them is not an option. I also don’t want to spend more money building up my other non-Heavy Support units.
Don’t get me wrong the force is ideal for Apocalypse. So it’s also not like that I can’t use the models either.
To be honest I think the only real solution us for my opponent to invest in a ShadowSword.
Tonight sees the final episode of Doctor Who with David Tennant in the lead role. Though this sees the end of David’s tenure, it also sees the end of Russell T Davies who breathed fresh life into the Doctor Who franchise.
I have really enjoyed the new Doctor Who and I am also really pleased it has been such a success too.
I have some trepidations about the direction that Steven Moffat will take the Doctor, though if my prediction is accurate then I think it might be interesting to watch.
I am looking forward to the final episode tonight.
A couple of Ork Trukks of mine about to move across the battlefield.
The Trukks are quite old and seem to come out in black when photographed, whereas they are quite rusty really. With the Trukks I am intending to use the old Trukks as Warbuggies.
The scenery are my desert boards in an unfinished state.

As well as my other Daemonhunters Inquisitorial Stormtroopers which are based on the Cadian Kasrkin I have also decided to add a unit based on the Tallarn or I may just use them as inducted Imperial Guard. Having sorted the bases I gave them a white undercoat.
See the workbench feature on these Inquisitorial Stormtroopers.
You can see how they will look by checking out the workbench feature on the Tallarn blister.
Having put the boars together I gave them both a white undercoat. The right view.
The left view.

Next stage will be the metal parts, which I will then drybrush with Boltgun Metal.
Unlike my other three Boars, for these models I am using some metal Cyboar heads from the old Snakebitez bitz range – this was before Games Workshop rationalised their online bitz store.

Here is a photograph of a Vostroyan Imperial Guard Baneblade from the display cabinets at GamesDay 2007.

I do like the paint job on this model.

Tonight (and part two tomorrow night) sees the new interpretation of The Day of the Triffids. I mentioned this back in November 2008 and quoted the BBC back then saying:
The drama, about menacing plants taking over the world, will be shown in two feature-length episodes next year.
Well, here we are in the final week of “next year” and the drama is on this week!
I think that there is quite a bit of gaming potential with The Day Of The Triffids, small groups of survivors trying to get past hordes of triffids. Even groups of survivors fighting each other over food caches.
Might try and think of some rules and look for models.
