So what’s the Badab War?

From http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Badab_War

The Badab War was one of the more serious rebellions in recent Imperial history, involving several Space Marine Chapters. Badab is a planet in the Ultima Segmentum, close to the border with the Segmentum Solar.

It will be released on September 27th, but I suspect that there will be copies at the UK GamesDay that is the day before.

We also saw pics of a Grot Mega-Tank to complement the already released Grot Tanks and an Eldar Titan.

Imperial Armour Volume 8: Raid on Kastorel-Novem has arrived

My copy of Imperial Armour Volume 8: Raid on Kastorel-Novem has arrived.

A very impressive book from Forge World with some wonderful photographs and images. What did catch my eye were the buggy and wartrakk schematics, no idea if these will ever go into production, but they look nice.

Imperial Armour Volume 8: Raid on Kastorel-Novem

Forge World have (finally) released Imperial Armour Volume 8: Raid on Kastorel-Novem.

imperialarmourvolume8

Waaagh! Garaghak is gathering pace across the Forsarr sector. Several of the Imperium¹s worlds have already fallen to the rising green tide of Orks, and now the sector¹s primary hive world has been invaded. Garaghak¹s hordes seem unstoppable, except that the Raven Guard¹s Scouts have discovered a secret behind the Goff Warlord¹s unending warbands – an Ork technical genius called Mek Boss Buzzgob who has created his own factories on the former Imperial refinery world in the Kastorel system.

This book contains a detailed history of the Raid on Kastorel-Novem and the rise of Warlord Garaghak. There is a complete Elysian Drop Troop Imperial Guard army list, including the Vulture gunship, Valkyrie Sky Talon and the Tauros and Tauros Venator rapid assault vehicles. There is also background information on the Raven Guard Space Marine Chapter, along with a new special character, Shadow Captain Korvydae. Rules, background and technical details are included for all of the recent Forge World Ork releases.

This book is heavily illustrated with over 50 colour pictures, 60 full colour vehicle profiles, over 30 technical drawings, plus colour profiles for the Elysian Drop Troops, Raven Guard and the Orks of the Goff, Evil Sunz and Death Skullz clans, all to add new depth and detail to the Warhammer 40,000 universe.

I will be ordering this book and am looking forward to reading it.

Imperial Armour

I was lucky enough to get some GW vouchers for Christmas. I had considered getting some more models, but as I am still modelling, painting and storing stuff from last Christmas (and a fair few Christmases before that) decided I probably have enough models to be going on with. Though I did quite like the idea of a Tyranid Trygon!

In the end I decided and luckily they had some in stock to get some of the Imperial Armour books published by Forge World. I already have volumes one and two. Though GW Stores don’t carry the Forge World models, some (well most I have been in) do sell the Forge World Imperial Armour Books, especially the Apocalypse ones. I got the GW staffer to check and as well as the Apocalypse books (which I already have) and the Masterclass Modelling Book (that I already have) they also had the first two Siege of Vraks books; Imperial Armour volumes five and six.

So I got them both.

Both really nice books. Unlike volumes one and two, they have much more narrative and background. I’ve not looked at three and four in detail, but I think they are similar.

I do like these books.

Will I complete the set?

Not sure, but the volume eight is about Orks so I will most certainly get that one.

Imperial Armour Apocalypse II arrived…

Imperial Armour Model Masterclass Volume One

One of the things I did pick up at GamesDay 2008 was Forge World’s Imperial Armour Model Masterclass Volume One.

Imperial Armour Model Masterclass Volume One

This is a fantastic book on how to model and paint Forge World tank models.

The first book of its kind produced by Forge World, it deals with advanced techniques for modelling and painting your Forge World and Games Workshop models, and features a guide to working with resin. Written by two of Forge World`s studio team; Phil Stutchinkas, winner of many model competitions including the prestigious Euro Militaire 2006 Best of Show, and multi-Golden Daemon award winner Mark Bedford.

The book is a 124 page full colour hardback, lavishly illustrated with high quality photos, featuring numerous advanced modelling and painting techniques for making your Warhammer 40,000 models truly something special.

Whether you are building and painting a centre piece model for your army or constructing a detailed diorama for display, this book is packed with innovative techniques for construction and painting to help you create stunning models. All the techniques are demostrated in step by step detail in extensive construction and painting sections that range from painting tanks to constructing a diorama, to building wargames scenery and terrain.

I have really enjoyed reading the book and have picked up a range of ideas and tips for my models.

Forge World Newsletter #191

Another Forge World Newsletter this time with some new Chaos stuff…

Hello There,
It’s been some time since our last newsletter, and we have been incredibly busy here at Forge World in the interim, both in keeping up with the unprecedented amount of orders we’ve been getting and in preparing for the future release Imperial Armour Volume 6. If you are still waiting on an order, don`t worry, we will get your models out to you as soon as we can, and for those of you we have left craving new releases, we have some fantastic ones to announce in this newsletter in the shape of our Death Guard Terminator and Marine Conversion Kits, and our new Death Korps of Krieg Equipment & Upgrade sets.
Thanks
Alan Bligh

The Battle for Vraks Continues…
Imperial Armour Volume 6: The Siege of Vraks Part 2 will see a massive escalation in the brutal war between the loyalist Imperial forces and the renegades led by the treacherous Cardinal Xaphan. Of course, this means we will be producing an expanding range of new Chaos and Imperial releases to help you fight your own battles for Vraks or simply add some cool new models to your own collection.

The Lords of Decay

The first new re-enforcements for the traitors of Vraks are from the dreaded Death Guard Chaos Space Marine Legion. We have two new beautifully vile and suppurating conversion sets for these Plague Marines, both designed by Mark Bedford. Firstly we have our Death Guard Marines Conversion set which requires the use of the plastic Chaos Space Marine boxed set, and builds ten Death Guard Marines. Although intended to represent the Plague Marines of the Death Guard, you could also use them to help create your own legions of decay, Nurgle-marked Chaos Marine Havocs, or even Nurgle-marked Raptors and the like. The Death Guard Terminator Conversion set in conjunction with the Chaos Terminator boxed set, goes to make up five Death Guard Terminators, and of course can also be used to furnish your Nurgle-marked Chaos Space Marine characters and Nurgle-marked Terminators for other renegade forces.

As you can see from the pictures these are wonderfully detailed models that really bring the decaying ruin of the Death Guard to unholy life, and you`ll see more Chaos models and further re-enforcements for the Renegades in the coming months.

Death Korps of Krieg Upgrade Sets

We also have some new and much-requested additions for our Death Korps of Krieg range in the shape of three Equipment upgrade sets, designed by Will Hayes and Simon Egan. These sets feature extra weapons and equipment in the patterns and styles used by the Death Korps. The first, the Death Korps of Krieg Weapons set contains five lasguns and two each of the grenade launcher, melta gun and flamer (one of each set with arms, and one unattached). The Death Korps of Krieg Equipment set features vox casters, ammunition, bayonets, demo charges and grenades, while the Death Korps of Krieg Command Upgrade set is made up of extra plasma and las pistols and chain and power swords, and weapon arms, as well as a set of five extra command shoulder plates to expand your command units.

As with the Renegades and followers of Chaos, the Imperium will also see an expansion in the forces fighting on Vraks, so you can look forward to more models for the Death Korps as well as some new forces becoming involved in the spiralling war we have yet to reveal!
