Inquisitorial Achilles Ridgerunner

One of my more recent models is the Genestealer Cults Achilles Ridgerunner.

Achilles Ridgerunner

The Achilles Ridgerunner is an Imperial light exploratory vehicle often used to scout out new ore seams by mining guild prospectors and newly discovered terrain on Frontier Worlds by geological surveyors.

Because of its speed, range and sheer durability, the Achilles Ridgerunner also has proven to be very popular for use with the outriders and scouts of the Genestealer Cults.

Achilles Ridgerunners range into deadly frontier environments, their pilots scanning for promising resource deposits and communicating their location back to base. Though well equipped to engage enemy scouts and outriders, the Achilles Ridgerunner’s true qualities lie in its ability to rove ahead of the cult’s main forces, scouting out potential ambush sites and routes of ingress into the foe’s territory.

I really do like this model, and as it is an Imperial light exploratory vehicle, I decided that I could use this to support my Daemonhunters force of Inquisitorial Stormtroopers, some of whom are Cadian Kasrkin and some are Tallarn Imperial Guard.

It comes in an A5 sized box with two sprues.

Here are some photographs of my Inquisitorial Stormtroopers. They are part of my Daemonhunters army for Warhammer 40K.

They have been photographed on a piece of scenery I built specially for taking photographs.

You can see how they were painted on the workbench feature on these Inquisitorial Stormtroopers.

Imperial Guard Catachan Jungle Fighter Sniper

When I was planning my Daemonhunters army, I wanted a sniper. However I didn’t really like the Vindicare model, so decided to order the Imperial Guard Catachan Jungle Fighter Sniper and use that as a Vindicare Assassin with Exitus Rifle.

I have to say, when I compared the model to the Cadian Kasrkin I used for the Inquisitorial Stormtroopers I was slightly disappointed. It lacked the finesse and quality of the Kasrkin models. If I was going to start again, I would probably use the Cadian Sniper models.

I decided when painting up my Inquisitorial Stormtroopers, to use the Cadian Kasrkin for them.

I did decide when thinking about a paint scheme, to not use the accepted traditional look for the Inquisitorial Stormtroopers and go with a desert theme.

Check out how these models were painted in the workbench feature on them.

MkIIb Land Raider

I seemed to have spent ages painting this model, so I had a look at it the other day to see what I need to do next.

Actually I have done a fair bit to get the basecoat finished now.

The next stage will be to give the model a thin wash to bring out the detail and darken the shadows. The tracks have been painted separately.

This Forge World MkIIb Land Raider is a Grey Knights vehicle, with a desert camouflage for use with my Daemonhunters force.

Elysian Tauros Assault Vehicle

I’ve always liked these Elysian vehicles ever since we saw them first at GamesDay 2009.

4-wheel Tauros is used by the Elysian regiments as a long-range scout vehicle, mounting potent anti-personnel firepower in the form of either a Heavy Flamer or Tauros Grenade Launcher. Its four wheels are individually powered by advanced high-yield galvanic motors, allowing it to maintain speed even with damaged tyres – often giving it a crucial edge when faced with superior enemy firepower.

I have decided to use them with my Daemonhunters’ Army with my Tallarn Imperial Guard. Before I start any model I have a look online at what others have done.

A really nice model and doesn’t look too complicated to build, looks complicated to paint though.
