One of the highlights of GamesDay 2009 for me was the fantastic Ork Shanty Town display that Forge World did. They used various models to make the scenery.

A very nice piece of modelling.
warhammer, wh40k, flames of war, bolt action, aeronautica imperialis, star wars, models, news, views and stuff
The Ork Sqwadron Commander is a really nice model (only available as a show model from Forge World).
Next stage for the model was a white undercoat, this is different to what I usually use with my Orks.

This week Games Workshop announced the release of some new Orc Boar Boyz for Warhammer Fantasy Battle.

Orc Boar Boyz are rough, tough and very determined. They ride into battle atop War boars – evil-minded creatures that will take every opportunity to maim, bite and kick the enemy of their Orc masters. Boar Boyz are the shock cavalry of an Orc and Goblin army, and they love nothing better that to gore, stamp and inflict damage on the enemy.
These are very nice looking plastic miniatures.
I can’t be the only Warhammer 40,000 Ork player looking at these new models and thinking time to add some Boar Boyz for my Feral Orks.

I have done this before with some other Warhammer Fantasy Orc Boar Riders.
At GamesDay 2008 as GW showed off their new plastic modular display boards, one model slightly overshadowed it; Colin Grayson’s HUGE BIG Ork Gun.
Slightly comical in some respects.
This was the rear of the Ork vehicle that was towing it.

See the front of the vehicle.

One of the highlights of GamesDay 2009 for me was the fantastic Ork Shanty Town display that Forge World did. There were many of the new Forge World models including the excellent Mega Dread.

I really like this model, which combined with Killa Kans and Dreadnoughts gives the Orks a variety of walkers that you would expect to find in their forces. Mine is well under way and I used it (in an undercoated state) in a recent game.
One of the highlights of GamesDay 2009 for me was the fantastic Ork Shanty Town display that Forge World did. They used various models to make the scenery. In this photograph Forge World have constructed an Ork garage.
So this is where they build those Trukks.
A very nice piece of modelling.
Having made the chassis, the next stage was adding the superstructure.
Still kept the model separate for painting purposes.
Another view.
This is how it looks with the provided turret, though I have decided not to use the turret with the model.
Though in the above photographs it looks like the wheels and tracks are fixed, I kept them unstuck so that the model would be easier to paint.

One of the highlights of GamesDay 2009 for me was the fantastic Ork Shanty Town display that Forge World did. There were many of the new Forge World models including the excellent Ork Big Trakk. A turbine powered Ork tracked vehicle with twin Big Shootas. This model though has been given the Supa Kannon.

I really like this model, which combined with Trukks and Halftrakks gives the Orks a variety of vehicles that you would expect to find in their forces. Another view of the model.
The weapon choices also add variety, not just for Forge World vehicles, but also for the plastic Trukk and Battlewagons.
Current rumours abound that in 2010 we will see new plastic Wartrakks and Buggies. We have already seen nice new plastic Killa Kans and Dreads.
This very neat little Grot Tank won the Silver at the Golden Demon awards at GamesDay 2006.

Very nice model.
At the recent Forge World Open Day, there were previews of some new Forge World Grot Tanks which were really nice. I am certainly thinking that having a few Grot Tanks on the battlefield would go nicely alongside my Grot Bomb Launcha and be somewhat fun.
