Another fifteen dice…

Back in November 2007 I wrote a blog post on the (then) new Forge World  Macharius with Vulcan Mega Bolter.

I was astounded back then with the Heavy 15 capabilities of the Vulcan Mega Bolter. Throwing 15 dice on one go.

Well if resin isn’t your thing, then the forthcoming new plastic Shadowsword kit will make you happy as one of the variants you can make, the Stormlord, is armed with the Vulcan Mega Bolter! As you can see here from the Shadowsword box art from the latest White Dwarf.

Wonder how many of these models Simon is going to buy!

Plastic Shadowsword (for real)

A few weeks ago back in October I said that Games Workshop would release a plastic Shadowsword. There was some scepticism on places such as Warseer, however I was happy that I had a good source.

Well in the new German White Dwarf they have a picture of the new plastic Shadowsword.

The article also says

Even though we associate the Apocalypse with the end of all things, for Warhammer 40.000 that is far from the truth – March will see plenty of new Apocalypse releases, among them a brand new super heavy tank. That is correct, the Shadowsword shown above is not a Forgeworld model, but a new plastic kit! And the best thing about it: this is only one out of six superheavy variants, that you can build with parts from the box!

There we go, so as the same source mentioned a plastic Stompa, then I know we’re going to see that too.

Plastic Stompa and New Apocalypse

Having written before about the plastic Stompa, from another source I have got further  confirmation that there will be a plastic Ork Stompa and it will cost £60.

This same source did not deny the Plastic Shadowsword either.

One new thing from them was that when these models are released in April, there will also be the release of a revised version of Apocalypse.

Plastic Shadowsword

As I exclusively announced on this blog a couple of weeks back, there is going to be a plastic Shadowsword released by Games Workshop, probably in March or April next year as part of an Apocalypse release (there will also be an Ork Stompa).

Since I wrote that blog entry, others across various forums have added further details and confirmation that there will be a plastic Shadowsword. There are also a couple of mentions that the kit will include other BaneBlade variants including the Stormlord transport which was seen in the Apocalypse Reload supplement.

There will be a plastic Stompa, and then something else….

Today from a reliable source I got confirmation that there will be a plastic Ork Stompa and it will cost £60.

It will be released in the early part of 2009, maybe part of the January Ork release, maybe a little later as part of the Apocalypse releases.

It was originally suppose to be released for Apocalypse, however due to some design problems which led to production issues it had to back to the drawing board and be almost redesigned again from scratch as the production model with the original design was flawed.
However we have already seen lots of rumours about plastic Stompaz.

I also managed to glean another piece of information from my source.

There will be a plastic Shadowsword, yup you heard it here first, there will be a plastic Shadowsword and it will cost £60.

Three New Imperial Super Heavy Tanks

Stormblade Arkurion Pattern

Brand new and much anticipated are the Arkurion Pattern Stormsword, Shadowsword and Stormblade. These three new model kits are complete kits that use some of the sprues from the new GW Plastic Baneblade kit along with additional new resin components replacing the upper hulls, main weapon, engine deck and fighting compartment. These fantastic new super heavy tanks were designed by Daren Parrwood, and make fine additions to any collection whether you`re after the titan-killing firepower of the Shadowsword for your Apocalypse force or just after cool modelling project to test your skills on. These new super-heavies are available either individually or as part of special bundle deals of three to bring terror to your foes! You can find more details of our bundle deals here, and if you order the deal you’ll get free express shipping worldwide.

Here you can see pictures of the Shadowsword, Stormblade and Stormsword painted by the talented Phil Stutchinskas. You`ll be able to see further examples of Phil`s work along with a feature on how he achieved these stunning paint jobs, together with other Forge World projects from our Studio team in our forthcoming painting and modelling book, but more details on that in future newsletters!

These three new Super Heavy Tank kits (and bundles) are available for pre-order now for release the week commencing the 25th of February.

New for Aeronautica Imperialis

We also have three new releases for the Tau AI range this Newsletter in the shape of the AX-2-2 Tiger shark Drone Carrier, the Remora Stealth Drones and Aerial Mines, which you can see pictures of here. The addition of these aircraft adds even greater depth to the Tau Air Cadres, with the Tiger Shark deploying their deadly drone fighter cargo directly into the battle, while the aerial mines are fantastic defences in scenarios and campaigns.

Full rules for these aircraft, and the Typha Conflict it which they are first used in battle can be found in our Tactica Aeronautica expansion book, which (this seems a good time to mention!) can currently be purchased in a special bundle deal for a substantial saving along with the Aeronautica Imperialis rulebook on or online store.

These models are available for pre-order now for release the week commencing the 25th of February.

Forge World will be attending our first show of the year at Games Day Spain on the 17th of February, we are however only able to take a limited selection of our stock. Forge World Open Day

Also we can confirm that we will be holding our second Forge World Open Day this Year at Warhammer World in Lenton on the 6th of April. Coming Soon – Shadowsword Conversion Kit

As you might have already guessed with the advent of the plastic BaneBlade, Forgeworld have been working on conversion kits which use the new plastic kit.

This is Daren Parrwood’s work in progress of a Shadowsword conversion kit.

Coming Soon - Shadowsword Conversion Kit

The target price is £90-£100 which is two thirds of the price of a full resin Shadowsword, but has the advantage that the plastic part of the kit should be easier to put together than the resin parts of the current model.

Certainly there are other conversion possibilities as well including Ork looted versions and Chaos versions.
