Imperial Guard Tallarn Stormlord

Imperial Guard Tallarn Stormlord at Warhammer World.

Stormlord

The Stormlord is a super-heavy main battle tank and variant of the Shadowsword tank-hunter and Titan-killer tank usually used by the forces of the Astra Militarum. The Stormlord replaces the Volcano Cannon of the Shadowsword with a Vulcan Mega Bolter. By removing the large capacitors and generators required for the Volcano Cannon to operate, extra space has been opened up near the rear of the vehicle which allows the Stormlord to carry up to 40 infantrymen as an open-topped armoured transport.

Ork Stompa Photos

My local Games Workshop has the new Ork Stompa on display in their window and I managed to get a couple of photographs of it.

From Games Workshop at Cribbs Causeway

It is one BIG model, much bigger than the BaneBlade.

It certainly looks the part and (as with most models) looks a lot better in the flesh than in the photographs.

They were taking pre-orders so I bought some plastic gretchin!

On the counter, not finished or painted was the new Stormlord which did look very mean and nasty, well it would with twin linked 15 dice Vulcan Mega Bolter!

Another fifteen dice…

Back in November 2007 I wrote a blog post on the (then) new Forge World  Macharius with Vulcan Mega Bolter.

I was astounded back then with the Heavy 15 capabilities of the Vulcan Mega Bolter. Throwing 15 dice on one go.

Well if resin isn’t your thing, then the forthcoming new plastic Shadowsword kit will make you happy as one of the variants you can make, the Stormlord, is armed with the Vulcan Mega Bolter! As you can see here from the Shadowsword box art from the latest White Dwarf.

Wonder how many of these models Simon is going to buy!

Plastic Shadowsword

As I exclusively announced on this blog a couple of weeks back, there is going to be a plastic Shadowsword released by Games Workshop, probably in March or April next year as part of an Apocalypse release (there will also be an Ork Stompa).

Since I wrote that blog entry, others across various forums have added further details and confirmation that there will be a plastic Shadowsword. There are also a couple of mentions that the kit will include other BaneBlade variants including the Stormlord transport which was seen in the Apocalypse Reload supplement.
