This very old Space Dwarf was from the very early days of Warhammer 40000. These dwarves were in many ways like the Imperial Guard but with shorter legs. As a result they weren’t as popular with gamers. They did evolve a little into the biker gangs (which I didn’t like) and then were unsummarily deleted from the range by Games Workshop.
Rumours abound that they are coming back… one day perhaps…
Twenty five odd years ago, if you wanted a Dreadnought for your Space Marine army, you had to get one of these…
This metal model, was in many ways, smaller than the current plastic kit, though maybe a little taller!
Though Forge World have gone down the retro path with the old Land Raider and Rhino, there Contemptor-pattern Dreadnought is based on the plastic Epic model and not this one. I am not sure if we will see an updated Forge World of this version of the Dreadnought, but if they did… I might be tempted.
The 2nd of June sees the release of the new plastic Ork Bommer.
Ever since an Ork aircraft first took flight and achieved supersonic speed, prospective flyboyz have been trying to outdo each other with their invenshuns. The most popular configurations of the Ork Bommer are the Dakkajet, the Burna-Bommer and the Blitza-Bommer.
It looks like a really nice plastic kit and you can make one of three variants. My favourite is this one.
It reminds me both of the Boulton Paul Defiant and one of the original Epic Ork Flyers.
With the price of Forge World kits as they are, it seems quite cheap at £27.50. Sometimes I need to remember that this is a plastic kit and Airfix usually sell something like this for £10!
Really nice concept and pleased to see it as a plastic kit. Time to rekindle that Ork Airfield idea that I had a few years back. Back then I bought the Ork Aircraft Traktor and Launch Trolley and repainted my Ork Fighter Bomma from Forge World.
So there I was looking through the Airfix preview for 2012 when I saw two models of desert buildings and immediately thought they would make for really nice scenery for Warhammer 40K.
As they are 1/48th scale they would fit very well with the 25/28mm size of models for Warhammer 40K.
Of course with some ramshackle additions they would make for some really nice Ork buildings, though I think they would also work as Tallarn style desert buildings.
Knowing Airfix, we probably won’t see these in the flesh until the latter part of 2012, but they do have potential.
So there I was looking through the Airfix preview for 2012 when I saw two models and immediately thought they would make for really nice Imperial Guard armoured vehicles.
They were the Supacat HMT600 Coyote.
And the Supacar HMT400 Jackal.
As they are 1/48th scale they would fit very well with the 25/28mm size of the Imperial Guard.
Of course with some ramshackle additions they would also make for some really nice Ork vehicles too.
