Ork Kill Bursta and Kill Blasta

Oh, nice new Ork models from Forge World.

The Kill Bursta

and the Kill Blasta.

These two fearsome machines of destruction are variants on the Kill Krusha, nefarious brainchild of the Murda Meks of Tigrus. Both new kits come with a highly characterful Ork commander and Grot communication system, as well as additional turrets for even more dakka.

With typical Ork ingenuity, Mekboys often nail huge rams and bulldozer blades to the front of what are collectively known as Kill Tanks – all the better to crush and bludgeon the enemy as these brutal vehicles plough through even the heaviest fire.

These huge models are hulking, slab-sided armoured behemoths: each model is around 10’’ long, 5’’ wide, and 5’’ high – take a look at the picture galleries below to see these new Kill Tanks compared to other kits in the Warhammer 40,000 range.

The Kill Bursta mounts a huge-bore Kannon capable of destroying bunkers and siegeworks with ease – the calibre of its devastating shells are such that a single round has even been known to tear the leg from a scout-class Titan (although this could be as much down to luck than the skill of the tanks crew). More pictures of the Kill Bursta can be found here.

The Kill Blasta mounts an insane array of Shootas, Gatlers and rapid-firing Kannons, collectively called a Giga-Shoota. This arsenal of dakka is wired to fire at the same time, engulfing anything unlucky enough to be within range in a fury of shot and shell, leaving nothing but scorched earth and fragments of flesh and armour. More pictures of the Kill Blasta can be found here.

Both Kill Tanks are full resin kits designed by Darren Parwood, with crew sculpted by Mark Bedford, and are available to order here for immediate release.

Full rules and background for both the Kill Blasta and Kill Bursta will be included in the forthcoming Imperial Armour 8.

I do really like these new ‘eavy tanks for the Orks. Very tempted to get them both.

Damocles Command Rhino

Imperial Fists Damocles Command Rhino

This Damocles Command Rhino won the Forgeworld Best of Show prize in the 2005 UK Golden Demon awards.

Imperial Fists Damocles Command Rhino

The radar dish moved around and as you can see in this shot, the inside included “real” lights (made from LEDs).

Imperial Fists Damocles Command Rhino

It was very well painted and made good use of the Forgeworld Imperial Fists doors. Some very nice weathering as well.

Forge World Chaos Reaver Titan

On display at GamesDay 2009 was this magnificent Chaos Reaver Titan.

Forge World Chaos Reaver Titan

Very impressive model. I know some people feel it should be more chaotic, but considering the Vraks background, this slightly less “corrupted” Reaver make some sense in the fluff.

Another view of this Titan.

Ork Trukk with Enclosed Cab

There were many of the new Forge World models on display at GamesDay 2009 including the excellent Ork Trukk with Enclosed Cab.

This Trukk model also includes a folding platform at the rear. This in my opinion is much better than the plastic platform included with the plastic kit. This is the same platform which we see on the long awaited Flakk Wagon.

This model is shown with the new Big Lobba. Now I don’t really like this weapon that much. Not sure what it is, but I know I don’t like it.

Death Korps of Krieg Shadowsword

A Death Korps of Krieg Shadowsword prepares to launch an attack against the rebels, while infantry wait in the trenches.

Ork Kill Krusha

This is the Forge World Ork Kill Krusha on display at GamesDay 2009.

The top of the turret has been removed (and placed on the side). Another view of the Kill Krusha.

Kill Krushas are a heavy Ork tank design, based around the twin Ork loves of speed and extreme violence. These ‘mirakles’ of Orkish mekboy fabrication are alarmingly complex creations, high-sided and heavily armoured, whose internal spaces are filled with a mass of hydraulics, pistons, mechanised loader-gubbins and a very large and extremely temperamental engines. These are all tended by the frantic ministrations of numerous Grots who keep the rattling monster tank going with constant hammer blows, polishing and judicious application of oiler squigs. The tank’s main gun is its Krusha Kannon; a heavy bore, high velocity weapon capable of firing a variety of different shells. As well as standard explosive rounds, the Krusha Kannon can use armour-piecing ‘Tankhammas,’ shrapnel-filled ‘Scrap Kanisters’ able to rip open swathes of enemy infantry and incendiary ‘Blast Burnas’ which can drench fortifications with burning chemicals to roast alive anyone caught inside.

Back in April at the Forge World Open Day I snapped a few concept images of Ork tanks and these show the design process in producing the Kill Krusha model.
