The rear view of the Forge World Reaver Titan.
Part of a massive Forge World display game at GamesDay 2008.
warhammer, wh40k, flames of war, bolt action, aeronautica imperialis, star wars, models, news, views and stuff
Having worked a lot of my Grey Knights Land Speeder, one of the key components is the replacement crew. I could have used the included plastic Space Marine crew, but in the end I used some metal Grey Knights models. I started with a black basecoat and then gave the armour a basecoat of Boltgun Metal. This was followed with the gold metal parts been given a base coat of Brazen Brass.
See the full workbench feature.
You may have seen my photographs of the THQ Rhino, well now watch it in action.

One of the things you may miss on this blog amongst all my entries, tags and pictures, is the community feed which is down on the right underneath the tag cloud. Update: with the demise of Google Reader, the community feed has been removed.
There are usually some wonderful things in that feed, but one which really caught my eye recently was this fantastic Death Korps of Krieg army.

That is just one of many photographs of the army from the Senji Studios blog. I really like the aged and weathered look of the armoured vehicles and the infantry are well painted as well.
Excellent go and have a close look, there are lots more photos and bigger photos at that. Update: the site is now offline.
This is a Forge World Turret Emplacement from Simon’s collection.

Complete with Leman Russ turret it is used by the Imperial Guard as part of a defence line.

More photographs of Imperial Guard.
The rumours are right it would appear that there is going to be a plastic Valkyrie for the Imperial Guard.
This is from the latest White Dwarf as scanned in by Plastic Legions.
Looks very nice, might get one for my Daemonhunters army, well better get painting the rest of it first.
One of the nice models from the Epic 40,000 era was the Deathstrike Missile Launcher.

This one shot super weapon was often at the heart of many an Imperial Guard Artillery Battery. This model is from Simon’s collection.
Yes I know this is the Epic model and the blog post title says 40K scale, well it is rumoured that we may be seeing a 40K scale model of the Deathstrike Missile Launcher.
Back in August when I originally posted this photograph I wrote then:
Unlike a lot of Imperial Guard Epic vehicles this one has never been made into a 40K version by Forge World, though this has not stopped others from scratch-building their own.
With Apocalypse I wonder if we will now see a Forge World version?
Well according to Bells of Lost Souls aggregation of various Imperial Guard rumours there will be rules (and thus possibly a model) in the forthcoming Imperial Guard Codex.
Deathstrike Missile Launcher
12 12 10 Tank.
Deathstrike Missile: 1 only. 12″-960″ S10 AP1 Heavy Artillery, Blast (radius 1D3+3″).
Special Rules:
Cannot be fired on Turn 1. Each turn roll a D6, weapon can be fired on a 6. Modifiers: +1 per turn, -1 for each crew stunned or weapon destroyed results sustained. Can always be fired on the roll of a natural 6.
Any weapon destoyed results received are ignored, the only effect they have is to delay the launch.
Hits on vehicles in the area of the Deathstrike Missile are not calculated at half strength but at S10.
Certainly looks nasty.
Forge World have released their most recent newsletter, Forge World Newsletter #209 which has details of the rather nice Chaos Brass Scorpion. Details of new rules will be in the third Siege of Vraks book due this year.
Forge World must have scorpions on the brain this month, as there are also releases for the Red Scorpions Space Marine Chapter.
Hello There,
Even though winter grips us with an icy hand here at Forge World, it hasn`t stopped us getting your orders out, and this newsletter we have something extraordinary for you in the shape of our Chaos Brass Scorpion of Khorne.
As well as this great new model, we have some requested heavy re-enforcement options for the Red Scorpions and our first event of the year.
Thanks
Alan Bligh
Chaos Brass Scorpion of Khorne
The Brass Scorpion is a terrifying daemonic engine of destruction dedicated to the Chaos God Khorne, Lord of Slaughter. This nightmarish construct, as much hell-spawned beast as war machine, it storms across the battlefield like a monstrous predator hunting and killing. Its huge claws are capable of shredding armour with ease and its firepower laying waste to swathes of enemy infantry. Even in destruction the foes of Chaos have learned to fear this unholy war machine, as its infernally-charged reactor erupts to scorch the battlefield with the fury of its death-throws.
The Brass Scorpion of Khorne is a fantastically impressive resin model designed by Daren Parrwood, and both an assembled example and a version painted by Mark Bedford can be seen pictured Here. The models has some superb details such as the tangled web of cabling and writhing bodies beneath its angled armour plating, and it can be built in a variety of poses. There is also a 360 degree view of the painted Brass Scorpion here.
A super-heavy war machine, rules for the Brass Scorpion of Khorne can be found in Warhammer 40,000 Apocalypse available from Games Workshop, and it will also be included as a new variant in our forthcoming book Imperial Armour Volume Seven: The Siege of Vraks Part 3.
The Chaos Brass Scorpion of Khorne is available to pre-order now for release the week commencing the 23rd of February.
Red Scorpions Thunderhawks and Pre-Heresy Land Raider

So if you are a Red Scorpions Space Marines player looking for add some heavy firepower to your Apocalypse games, or make sure your armoured support arrives on time, a Thunderhawk can serve as a fantastic reminder for your opponent why the Space Marines are also known as the Angels of Death.
These Red Scorpion models are available to pre-order now for release the week commencing the 23rd of February.
Salute 2009
Our first event of the New Year, Forge World will be attending the Salute games show at the London Excel Centre on Saturday 28th March, were we will have a selection of our models. You can also place a reservation order to pick up and pay for on the day, either by giving us a ring or sending us an email to fwreservations@games-workshop.co.uk before Friday the 13th of March.
I seem to be in the minority as I really quite like this model, and if you read this blog I am not a fan of Chaos one bit!
As well as my other Daemonhunters Inquisitorial Stormtroopers which are based on the Cadian Kasrkin I have also decided to add a unit based on the Tallarn or I may just use them as inducted Imperial Guard.
Having given the models a white undercoat, I gave the models a basecoat of Desert Yellow.
Next stage will be a wash.
Full workbench feature on this blister of Tallarn Imperial Guard. Workbench feature on the boxed set.
With Warhammer Historical available, GamesDay 2008 wasn’t just Fantasy and 40K, in Hall 1 there were a fair few historical wargames on show using the various Warhammer Historical rules. This is nothing new, last year we saw was Aly Morrison and Dave Andrews’ excellent World War One demonstration game.
Demonstrating The Great War rules were two games one set in Gallipoli and one in 1914.

Very nice terrain and some great models.
You can see many more pictures of the historical wargaming on my website.
