Deathstorm Drop Pods carry multiple robotic heavy weapons instead of troops. Once landed a Deathstorm Drop Pod will crack open to strafe the unsuspecting enemy.
This Forge World model is armed with the Whirlwind Missile Launcher and was on display at GamesDay 2008.
One of the impressive games this year at GamesDay 2009 was the mega game which comprised a large Imperial city surrounded by a defensive wall.
The model builders had used lots and lots of Imperial Bastions and Shrine of the Aquila.
This was part of the Apocalypse releases.
Having (eventually) got the model out of the blister you have a better idea of how many parts you get in there.
The next stage was putting it all together, I decided to put the whole model together as separate assemblies didn’t seem to be needed.
The rear view.
The next stage will be a black undercoat.

The model builders had used lots and lots of Imperial Bastions and Shrine of the Aquila. For the citybuildings they used the Cities of Death building kits. There were a fair few Valkyries flying about the game too.

Well I am impressed with Games Workshop, they got the photographs from the UK Golden Demon up very quickly.
This wonderful Space Marine Land Speeder Storm won Gold in the vehicle category.

Of course the GW pictures are better, but then they bring their portable studio with them!

One of the very few sneak previews from GamesDay 2009 today was the Elysian ATV or FAV.

Designed to be carried and air dropped by a Valkyrie it’s a nice change from the many tanks the Imperial Guard normally have.
This is still very much a work in progress and may not bear any resemblance to the finished model.
As indicated in the contents of the forthcoming Imperial Armour book there will be a heavy lift version of the Valkyrie which can be used to carry the ATV or FAV.
More photographs from GamesDay 2009 coming soon.
