Grot Rigger with Toolbox

This Grot Rigger with Toolbox was from the Collectors Range and is sadly no longer available.

This is one of my favourite models from that now defunct range. It will eventually be found on one of my Ork vehicles or the new Ork Trukk which I have been making.

I gave the model a white undercoat.

As the model will not have a base, I am simply using an upside down slottabase to hold the model.

See the full workbench feature on this model.

Grot Bomb Launcha

The Forge World Grot Bomb Launcha is probably my favourite model of all time.

Having given my Grot Bomb (from my Grot Bomb Launcha) a base coat of Desert Yellow, the next stage was a wash.

I gave the bomb a wash consisting of Chestnut Ink, Scorched Brown paint (which helps remove the gloss of the ink) and some water to thin the wash down.

I gave the launch structure a basecoat of Chaos Black. For some reason the resin has warped a bit, not sure how that happened, but I think as it is quite Orky, I am going to leave it as it is.

Here’s how the Grot Bomb looks when using one of my Wartrakks as the vehicle for the launcha.

Ork Great Gargant

At GamesDay 2003 there were a lot of Forge World Warhound Titans which has just been released. Amongst all that Imperial heavy armour was this lone Ork Great Gargant.

Ork Great Gargant

This was from Armorcast in the days before Games Workshop took large scale resin models back in house and created Forge World. It was only (in theory) available in the USA and was very difficult if not impossible to get in the UK.

If I could find one, afford one and have the time to paint one, I really would like to get hold of this model, but alas I think everything is against me!

Forge World seem to have no intention of making an Ork Gargant, even with the “green tide” of the new Ork Codex, we have seen very little if any new Ork stuff. There has been a rumour shot of a souped up Ork Trukk…

Ork Trukk

and some ammo grunts….

Ammo grunts

but apart from those, very little else.

Though I do wonder what else Forge World may be planning…

Ork Kommando Warboss

I have added materials from the urban basing kit to my Ork Kommandos.
I didn’t use any of the resin pieces, but used the large and small slate. I think I will add some barbed wire as well.

I initially decided to paint their backpacks separately, so thought of how I would need to mount them. After much thought (and a fair bit of procrastination) I decided against that idea and stuck the backpacks on.

Here is the Kommando Nob (Boss)’s backpack complete with Grot

I have based my other Ork bosses on 40mm bases, so I might at some point rebase him, but for the moment he can stay on his smaller base (well he is an infiltrator).

Next stage will be the undercoat.

Grot Big Gunz

This is my battery of Grot Big Gunz Kannons from a recent game (hiding behind some cover).

In the new Ork Codex, these Big Gunz are now much better at hitting things.
Grotz in the new Codex now have a BS of 3 making their base to hit roll a 4+ which is one better than their bigger Ork cousins.

The only downside to the new Big Gunz rules is that Zzap Guns no longer automatically hit (according to the letter of the rules) and as they cost more points and have an average strength lower than Kannons, are not longer a real option anymore.

I am hoping the imminent Ork Codex FAQ will clarify the Zzap Gun rules.

Grot with Toolbox

Grot with Toolbox, a nice little model, not available much longer…

As well as the Ork Stormboyz Nob and Grot Oiler which I got at Warhammer World last month, I also got a Grot with Toolbox which is from the collectors range.

As you may now already GW are changing their mail order procedures and ranges which means that these older collectors’ models may no longer be available in the future.

Get them now while you can, this is one of my favourite models from that range.
