Grot Bomb Launcha Mk II

The Forgeworld Grot Bomb Launcha is probably one of my all time favourite ideas and was really chuffed when my mate Simon got me one for my birthday. I already have a workbench feature on that Grot Bomb Launcha however I did get another model of one at GamesDay 2005. It is my intention to get a few of these now and to build an ammo trukk for them.

So how did I make this one?

This one I am aiming to do differently with as my previous one a converted driver, this one though I want to do a different track unit and extra gubbinz and baggage on top.

The driver uses the Deth Kopta pilot. This next stage shows the main resin parts and wartrakk with a white undercoat.

This is the firing ramp complete with Grot Bomb.

I gave the Grot Bomb a base coat of Desert Yellow.

Having finished the base coat I gave the bomb a wash consisting of Chestnut Ink, Scorched Brown paint (which helps remove the gloss of the ink) and some water to thin the wash down.

I gave the launch structure a basecoat of Chaos Black. For some reason it has warped a bit, not sure how that happened, but I think as it is quite Orky, I am going to leave it as it is.

Here is how it could look using a Wartrakk.

I gave the driver a black undercoat.

The launching mechanisim was given first a drybrush using Tin Bitz before a second drybrush using Boltgun Metal.

I painted the fuel tank using Tausept Ochre.

I started to give the main body a basecoat of dark brown.

I then put the model in storage.

I recently found the chassis of this one in of the boxes with my Land Raiders.

I gave the model a spray of Citadel Zandri Dust.

Now I just need to find the rest of the model!

I used some other brown paints to paint the boxes on the chassis. I painted the exhausts and the rear deck with Leadbelcher.

I then gave the model a wash using Citadel Shade Agrax Earthshade.

I then drybrushed the model with various shades of brown. I found the tracks. These had been undercoated black. I gave them a heavy drybrush of Gorthor Brown, followed by a lighter drybrush of Leadbelcher.

I also used Leadbelcher lightly on the motorcycle engine.

I had already painted the fuel tank.

The launcher system (launcha) was already painted black and drybrushed with a metallic paint. Though I think this one was from my other Grot Bomb Launcha.

I touched up the white paint on the Grot Bomb pilot to later paint with green flesh tones.

I also need to paint the driver. Well I also need to find the driver as well.

I used some Agrax Earthshade on the fuel tank and the leather seat.

I then drybrushed the launcha with Leadbelcher. This is the right one for this Grot Bomb Launcha and is slightly warped. I also used some Seraphim Sepia to add some rust style effects.

This is the launcha on the Wartrakk.

I added a glyph to the front armour plate.

And one to the rear of the Wartakk.

Now to find the rider.
