The Scorpion super heavy grav tank is one of the largest vehicles capable of anti-gravatic movement. The Eldar have used the Scorpion to spearhead an all out attack, especially against strongly defended positions where its Pulsars are used to engage enemy bunkers and strong points.
This is the model from the Forgeworld displays at GamesDay 2004.

Back at GamesDay 2001, Carl from Dropship, which alas has not been updated for many years now, put on a most excellent Epic demonstration game with some fantastic models and some fantastic scenery.
One of the key scenery pieces for me was the freight yard, railway track and one of the nice Forge World Tank Factories (which is sadly now long longer available).
In that shot you can also see the very nice (and also not available) Capitol Imperalis.
Sadly this model was never re-released nor was it re-imagined when Epic Armageddon came around (and went again).
I have seen what some people have done on the web, but I do wonder now and again if Forge World will ever release either an Epic or a 40K version or something similar.

At GamesDay 2003 there were a lot of Forge World Warhound Titans which has just been released. Amongst all that Imperial heavy armour was this lone Ork Great Gargant.

This was from Armorcast in the days before Games Workshop took large scale resin models back in house and created Forge World. It was only (in theory) available in the USA and was very difficult if not impossible to get in the UK.
If I could find one, afford one and have the time to paint one, I really would like to get hold of this model, but alas I think everything is against me!
Forge World seem to have no intention of making an Ork Gargant, even with the “green tide” of the new Ork Codex, we have seen very little if any new Ork stuff. There has been a rumour shot of a souped up Ork Trukk…

and some ammo grunts….

but apart from those, very little else.
Though I do wonder what else Forge World may be planning…
If you have been following my workbench feature on my Forge World Ork Gunwagon, you will know that it is nearly finished. Though not quite finished, it’s finished enough for me to use in a game (or two).
It performs quite well, and just ensure you have a few Meks around to fix it when it gets shot to pieces.
A pair of Epic Imperial Guard Leman Russ Main Battle Tanks patrol the ruins on an Imperial City.
These models from the Epic 40000 era are very well detailed. I was quite pleased with the paint job on these models, though due to the ink wash they are a bit glossy for my liking.

Having done the main basecoat, wash and drybrush on my Ork Wartrakk, the next stage was to weather and detail the model.
I then started the weathering and detailing process on the Wartrakk. This included scratch marks, rust, flaking paint. It also included painting in the straps and the headlights.
Looking at this under the harsh glare of the digital camera, some of it looks like it might need a little more work, it never surprises me how forgiving the eye is, compared to the camera.
The rear view, note the use of Forge World Ork glyphs (which are way too thick).
Basically apart from the main weapon and the driver, I think this is now finished.
See the full workbench feature on the Wartrakk.
I really really enjoyed tonight’s episode of Doctor Who.
Nice to see the return of the Daleks and that evil genius Davros.
Can’t believe I am going to have to wait a week for the final episode.
A Royal Aircraft Factory SE5a flies over the battlefield, part of Aly Morrison and Dave Andrew’s excellent World War One demonstration game which was on display at GamesDay 2007.
You can see many more pictures of the game on my website.
Simon’s Space Marine Dreadnought usually suffers terribly in our games.
However in the last game we played which included the Dreadnought, it performed quite well, much better than usual.
What this really means is that I can’t depend on it just blowing up anymore, it could be dangerous!
See our Dreadnought gallery.
