Epic Ork Trukks

The new models are rather nice…

Managed to see a blister of the new Ork Trukks (or battlewagons as they are referred to) and though most are new, some are conversions of the older models (as we were promised) and it does seem a little strange to see the Flakwagon Trukk as a whole casting as opposed to the three part I am use to.

Epic Scale Chaos Death Wheel

Wonderful model of a vehicle I didn’t know actually existed…

I didn’t even know Chaos had a vehicle called a Death Wheel…

It’s from the same website that the excellent Chaos Defiler came from which I have mentioned before.

The models are well constructed, well painted and beautifully photographed as well.

Excellent work.

See how it was done.

Valentines Day

Don’t know what you got, but I got reinforcements…

Generally on Valentines Day you get flowers, chocolates, and other romantic stuff!

I got a boxed set of Grey Knights! Okay so not very romantic, but what a present!

There are five Grey Knights in the boxed set, including one Justicar and one Knight with incinerator.

Two of these may well end up as the crew of my Grey Knights Landspeeder.

Witch Hunters Codex

There is one new Codex which has me as nearly excited (if not more so) than the Daemonhunters Codex and that is the Witch Hunters Codex.

Having see lots of nice preview pictures on the GW website of the new miniatures this looks like it could be another really nice release. The fact that a lot of the models are interchangeable with Daemonhunters means less models to buy.

Looking good.

Cheap Ork Boar Boyz

…or how to save a little bit of money…

With the release of the Warhammer 40K 2004 Annual the final version of the Ork feral list is now available.

I quite like the idea of Boar Boyz I certainly use them in my Epic Ork army, but have always been a little wary of the price of the Warhammer Fantasy Battle Orc Boar Riders which are £6 each!

Having glanced around the GW online store I have come up with a potential (and cheaper) solution.

Using the Orc Command Sprue (from the Orc Boyz Regiment boxed set) you do in fact get a Boar rider. It only costs £3 and you get an additional two Orcs.

Ork Boar Boyz

It would seem that you get three Orc bodies and four legs, however if you take a closer look at the top right you can see that the legs are slightly different!

Ork Boar Boyz

These are the Boar Rider legs. If you have the Orc Battalion Box, you will notice you get a Orc Warlord on a Boar these are the components.

A plastic boar costs £1 for the body and 50 pence for the head, total cost is £4.50 and you get an additional two Orcs.

As the plastic components with the 40K Ork Boyz are pretty similar and you get loads of extra arms with 40K weapons to convert the Orc Boyz.

The command sprue also comes with a range of extra bitz as well including a standard, a shield and a pair of drums – perfect for any feral Ork army.

It is my intention however to use the 40mm round slottabases rather than the WHFB cavalry bases which come with the boars.

No Epic Armageddon

My local GW store had no copies left of the Epic Armageddon rulebook and very few miniatures as well (some Gargants, a Reaver and a few plastic Orks).

According to one of my sources, the staff in the GW store had purchased all the copies ordered… this is a bit unfair, especially as they get an alleged 50% staff discount.

So I couldn’t get my copy, so I bought some paint and a copy of Warmaster Magazine #21 – still need to buy #20 though!

Warmaster Magazine Issue # 21

Another excellent issue of Warmaster magazine. lots of scenarios and lots on dragons.

The contents includes:

The Idol of Gork – a campaign based on the Warhammer Fantasy Battle campaign pack of the same name.

The Road to Nottingham – a Chaos General’s tale of the Warmaster tournament.

Card Terrain – not making terrain, but using a card system to generate terrain for the tabletop.

Albion Battle Report – says it all really…

The Battle of Pont A’Leiss Enms – rules for the Emperor Dragon

Alas it is the last ever issue of Warmaster Magazine, it will be “replaced” by Fanatic Magazine which will cover all the Specialist Games.

Warmaster on the website.

Epic Scale Chaos Defiler

An excellent small web article on how to create an epic scale model of this Chaos vehicle…

Was referred to this website from a posting on the official Epic Forums, and I was very impressed with this excellent little conversion of the Chaos Defiler.

The vehicle is made from components available as bitz from GW US Mail Order and includes Man O War and Chaos Land Raider bitz.

You can find out how it was built and what components were used at Audrey’s Conversion Corner.

See how it was done.
