Adventures Of Young Indiana Jones

I was lucky enough for my last birthday to get volume one of the Adventures Of Young Indiana Jones.

I have aways enjoyed the Indiana Jones and have been playing around with games in an Indiana Jones’esque type environment, Tally Ho!

There are quite a few gaming ideas that come out of the Adventures Of Young Indiana Jones. The series is very much based around historical events.

One episode which inspired me was set in Princeton (in 1916) and involved a lot of car chases (with an old Model T Ford), German spies, local police, Naval Intelligence and bicycles.

Thinking about a few scenarios based around these ideas.

Epic Kult of Speed

I can’t believe that my Epic 40000 Ork army is nearly ten years old now! I do have Epic models which are older, but I used them for Dirtside. It was Epic 40000 which I really liked as a ruleset for Epic.

Here are some of my Ork forces, part of a Kult of Speed, in the main buggies and wartrakks (though you can see a Skorcha in the background as well)

They are moving through my ruined Imperial city terrain.

Heresy today, heresy tomorrow, heresy soon

Well after the announcement that the Black Library was no longer going to produce Dark Heresy raised a few eyebrows, especially after the initial print run sold out it was interesting to read that there may have been reason behind the madness.

According to a press release from Fantasy Flight Games they now have the licence to publish the role-playing, board and card games set in the Games Workshop universe.

Fantasy Flight Games (“FFG”) and Games Workshop (“GW”) jointly announced today that they have reached an agreement for Fantasy Flight Games to become the exclusive publisher of board games, card games (including collectible card games), and roleplaying games based on Games Workshop’s family of renowned intellectual properties including Warhammer Fantasy Battles and Warhammer 40,000.

Further down the press release we read:

FFG will continue production and new-product support for the Universal Fighting System CCG, the Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay RPG, and the new smash-hit Dark Heresy RPG.

So it looks like Dark Heresy is here today and will be here tomorrow.

Dark Heresy Rulebook

The new Dark Heresy will be released in July 2008.

Cloudships of Mars

I have always liked the concept of Space 1889 and over the years bought the game, models and other stuff.

Through the community feed and via this blog I did find this excellent Cloudships of Mars website (update: link is dead, but here is a different site with photos of the models), which has some fantastic photos and models form the Space 1889 demonstration game which has been at Salute a few years back.

Cloudships of Mars

I have always wanted to do an Epic version of 1889, but never got much further than just thinking about it.

It’s these kinds of websites and images which inspire you to get the stuff out and have a game.

Indiana Jones takes $126m

Indiana Jones takes $126m

BBC reports on how well Indiana Jones has done at the cinema.

The new Indiana Jones film has shot to the top of the North American box office chart, taking $126m (£63.7m) in its first four days on release.

Released 19 years after the last Indiana Jones film, The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull opened on Thursday following mixed reviews at Cannes.

Still have yet to see it myself, hopefully soon. In the meantime why not look at some photographs inspired by Indiana Jones.
