Imperial Guard Baneblade

The Baneblade is the primary super-heavy tank of the Astra Militarum, and one of the largest and oldest armoured fighting vehicles in the service of the Imperial armed forces. The tank is a venerated Standard Template Construct (STC) design, with ten people needed to fully crew one. It is also one of the oldest STC designs in existence. They are often used as command vehicles by Imperial Guard commanders.

Bristling with armaments, a Baneblade is less of a tank and more of a rolling fortress. An unmistakable icon of the Imperium’s armoured supremacy, a single one of these super-heavy war engines can serve as the mailed fist of an Astra Militarum offensive, or as the unassailable lynchpin of even the most desperate of defences.

"Ork Buildings" – Airfix Preview 2012

So there I was looking through the Airfix preview for 2012 when I saw two models of desert buildings and immediately thought they would make for really nice scenery for Warhammer 40K.

As they are 1/48th scale they would fit very well with the 25/28mm size of models for Warhammer 40K.

Of course with some ramshackle additions they would make for some really nice Ork buildings, though I think they would also work as Tallarn style desert buildings.

Knowing Airfix, we probably won’t see these in the flesh until the latter part of 2012, but they do have potential.

Tallarn Stormlord

Tallarn Stormlord from Warhammer World

The Stormlord is a super-heavy main battle tank and variant of the Shadowsword tank-hunter and Titan-killer tank used by the forces of the Astra Militarum. The Stormlord replaces the Volcano Cannon of the Shadowsword with a Vulcan Mega Bolter. By removing the large capacitors and generators required for the Volcano Cannon to operate, extra space has been opened up near the rear of the vehicle which allows the Stormlord to carry up to 40 infantrymen as an open-topped armoured transport.

Elysian Tauros Assault Vehicle

I’ve always liked these Elysian vehicles ever since we saw them first at GamesDay 2009.

4-wheel Tauros is used by the Elysian regiments as a long-range scout vehicle, mounting potent anti-personnel firepower in the form of either a Heavy Flamer or Tauros Grenade Launcher. Its four wheels are individually powered by advanced high-yield galvanic motors, allowing it to maintain speed even with damaged tyres – often giving it a crucial edge when faced with superior enemy firepower.

I have decided to use them with my Daemonhunters’ Army with my Tallarn Imperial Guard. Before I start any model I have a look online at what others have done.

Before I got started, I washed all the resin pieces.

A really nice model and doesn’t look too complicated to build, looks complicated to paint though.

Inquisitorial Stormtroopers

As well as my other Daemonhunters Inquisitorial Stormtroopers which are based on the Cadian Kasrkin I have also decided to add a unit based on the Tallarn or I may just use them as inducted Imperial Guard. Having sorted the bases I gave them a white undercoat.

See the workbench feature on these Inquisitorial Stormtroopers.

You can see how they will look by checking out the workbench feature on the Tallarn blister.
