Finished construction of the Goliath Truck

I managed to get a copies of issues #69 and #70 of Combat Patrol which came with the sprues for a Goliath Rockgrinder. Good value at £19.98 compared to the list price for the Goliath Rockgrinder which is £42.50.

I decided I would  build this as a Goliath Truck rather than the Rockgrinder.

I finished constructing the Goliath Truck.

I did not attach the wheels or the main weapon, as these will be painted separately.

The next stage will be an undercoat.

More progress with the Goliath Truck

I was continuing the build from previously.

I was adding the railings to the vehicle and the one of the main weapons.

Continuing with the Goliath Truck

Though a Genestealer Cults vehicle I am guessing that it can be used by the Imperial Guard or other forces, as it is for intents and purposes an Imperial mining vehicle which has been commandeered by the cultists.

There are two sprues for this model. I have made further progress on the model.

The instructions that came with Combat Patrol are for the Rockgrinder, so I had to go online and find the instructions for the Goliath. The main differences are the front grinder, which I won’t be attaching, and the rear compartment, which is open on the Goliath truck.

It certainly is an interesting kit to put together and there are quite a few parts.

Goliath Truck

Infinitely adaptable, hard-wearing and rugged, the Goliath Truck is a mainstay of the Genestealer Cults. Fast and manoeuvrable, it bounces around the battlefield laying down walls of gunfire, heavy stubbers and autocannons ablaze. Once dedicated to the shadows, the crew manning the Goliath – proudly emblazoned with insignia of the Cult – now do everything in their power to get as close to the enemy, screaming rapidly across even the most hostile terrain to slam open their cargo compartment and disgorge broods of up to 10 scuttling Hybrids.

Though a Genestealer Cults vehicle I am guessing that it can be used by the Imperial Guard or other forces, as it is for intents and purposes an Imperial mining vehicle which has been commandeered by the cultists.

I am thinking of either painting it as an Imperial mining vehicle, in yellow; or I am thinking it might be a commandeered vehicle for use as a Chimera stand-in for some Tallarn Imperial Guard.

Atalan Jackals as Tallarn Rough Riders

I managed to get a copy of #78 of Combat Patrol which came with the Atalan Jackals. Good value at £9.99 compared to the list price for the Jackals which are £40.

I am planning to use these as Tallarn Rough Riders.

You get four bikes and a quad bike.

Thinking about getting some replacement heads for them as well.

Tallarn Imperial Guard

I’ve always liked the Tallarn Imperial Guard and have over the years bought some of the models. I have even painted some.

These Tallarn Imperial Guard were on display in the cabinets at Warhammer World.

Tallarn Imperial Guard

The Tallarn Desert Raiders are a regiment of the Imperial Guard raised from the Desert World of Tallarn. The soldiers of the regiment are highly skilled at desert and mobile armoured warfare.

Imperial Guard Baneblade

This Imperial Guard Baneblade super heavy tank was on display at Warhammer World. It was from Damien Pedley’s collection.

The Baneblade super heavy tank is the standard super heavy for the Imperial Guard. It’s huge and the design is one of the oldest in service with the armed forces of the Imperium. It is one of the Standard Template Construct (STC) designs that ensures that  Forge Worlds across the galaxy are able to easily manufacture the tanks to a consistent design.  The size means a large crew, ten in all. They are often used as command vehicles by Imperial Guard commanders.

With a range of armaments, a Baneblade is less of a tank and more of a tracked fortress. An unmistakable icon of the Imperium’s armoured supremacy, a single one of these super-heavy war engines can serve as the mailed fist of an Imperial Guard offensive, or as the unassailable lynchpin of even the most desperate of defences.

This Tallarn Desert Raiders Baneblade, from the ‘Eavy Metal team,  was also on display at Warhammer World.

Another Baneblade painted by the Games Workshop team, was also at Warhammer World.

The Baneblade was originally an Epic design, but was then available as a modelling project in White Dwarf. Forge World produced a resin version for many years. In 2007 a plastic version of the tank was made available. We shouldn’t forget the 1/6th scale version that Forge World showcased at Games Day 2006.

Initially I wasn’t a fan, I thought it was too big, but over the years I have come to like the concept. Will I buy the model? Well I might.

Tallarn Inquisitorial Stormtroopers in the desert

I have some Daemonhunters Inquisitorial Stormtroopers which are based on the Cadian Kasrkin I decided many years ago to add a unit based on the Tallarn.

Here are the finished troopers in the desert.

Check out the workbench feature on the Inquisitorial Stormtroopers (Tallarn Blister).
