The Fall Of Outpost Sigma-12

One of the displays at Warhammer World was this Horus Heresy battle, entitled, The Fall Of Outpost Sigma-12.

Traitor forces breach the Imperial Fist’s last defensive lines at Outpost Sigma-12 on Cthonia. Undermined by the Sons of Horus’ subterranean onslaught, the Loyalists are determined to fight to the last in the name of the Emperor.

They ultimately reap such a toll of Traitor lives that any victory won was a hollow one. This battle would be one of the last fought during the Horus Heresy, for shortly after its bloody conclusion Horus launched his assault on the Emperor’s Palace on distant Terra.

The Legion Arquitor is a heavy artillery platform designed to operate at the forefront of a Legiones Astartes advance. Equipped with a reinforced chassis and brutal short range firepower, it is called upon to break the most stubborn of fortifications or to annihilate massed enemy infantry and armour.

The morbus bombard launches shells loaded with deadly phosphex, a toxic and corrosive incendiary compound that eats through flesh and metal alike, tainting the very ground and air with alchemical fire.

Mastodon Heavy Assault Transport

The Mastodon was one of the heaviest assault transports in the arsenal of the Legiones Astartes during the Great Crusade, and is still found in the armouries of the Space Marine Chapters of the 41st Millenium.

Mastodon Heavy Assault Transport

Its cavernous assault bay, capable of housing almost half a Company, is protected both by thick layers of ceramite armour as well as crackling void shields.

It also mounts a fearsome siege melta array, allowing it to breach even the most formidable defences with ease, as well as an array of secondary weaponry intended to defend the vehicle as it approaches its target.

Unleashed only against the most fearsome of enemy redoubts, there are few obstacles that can stay the wrath of this relic of the Imperium’s bloody birth.

The Mastodon is heavily armed and armoured, carrying 40 Space Marines, and even Dreadnoughts, safely to the heart of battle.

Whilst embarked, the warriors within will defend their immense transport, turning the sponson weapons on any enemy brave or foolish enough to come close.

It’s Siege melta array can easily destroy fortifications, and makes short work of armoured vehicles, whilst its Skyreaper Battery will tear through any airborne threat with ease.

Fellblade Super Heavy Tank

Iron Hands Fellblade Super Heavy Tank

The Fellblade Super Heavy Tank is a behemoth of the Legiones Astartes, a testament to their unwavering resolve and technological prowess. This imposing war machine is a towering fortress on tracks, its hull clad in thick, nigh-impenetrable armour that can shrug off even the most devastating artillery strikes. Its main armament is a devastating twin-linked siege cannon, capable of hurling massive shells with enough force to obliterate entire squads of infantry or even lighter vehicles in a single salvo.

To complement its firepower, the Fellblade is also equipped with a battery of heavy bolters and a pair of twin-linked lascannons, providing devastating anti-infantry and anti-vehicle capabilities. The Fellblade’s crew is protected by a multi-layered armour system and a reinforced cockpit, ensuring their survival even in the most intense combat.

This formidable war machine is a symbol of the Legiones Astartes’ relentless pursuit of dominance, a testament to their unwavering loyalty to the Emperor and their unwavering dedication to the cause of the Imperium. Then again, it is also a symbol of those Legions which betrayed the emperor.

Imperial Fists Fellblade Super Heavy Tank

The Fellblade is based  upon the same STC data as the Baneblade super-heavy tank, which is extensively used by the Imperial Guard. The Fellblade is a more advanced variant that first saw widespread service with the Legiones Astartes in the last decades of the Great Crusade.

Imperial Fists Fellblade Super Heavy Tank

It is most noted for its use of Mechanicum atomantic arc-reactor technology and a reinforced metaplas alloy chassis superior with an advanced accelerator cannon as its primary armament. These systems are Dark Age technologies rediscovered and restored to humanity shortly before the nightmare of the Great Heresy.

Javelin attack speeders are both rare and highly valued, utilising a range of antigrav impellor technologies so esoteric that some amongst the Mechanicum regard them with overt distrust.

Emperor’s Children Javelin Attack Speeder

Regardless of their technical complexity, these hovering vehicles are fast, highly manoeuvrable, have an extended operational range and – perhaps most importantly – can carry a heavy payload of weapon systems, qualities which keep them in high demand throughout the Legiones Astartes.

Sons of Horus Spartan Assault Tank

These Sons of Horus Spartan Assault Tanks were on display at Warhammer World.

The Spartan Assault Tank, often referred to as the Land Raider Spartan, is a formidable armoured vehicle designed to breach the most impenetrable enemy defences and deliver devastating blows with its payload of Legion Astartes infantry. Its nigh-impervious hull, capable of shrugging off even the most potent anti-tank weaponry, makes it a truly formidable war machine.

During the Great Crusade, the Spartan became an indispensable asset for the Legion Astartes. Its immense firepower and exceptional durability allowed it to lead the charge into the heart of enemy territory, paving the way for Legionaries to storm enemy fortifications. With a capacity to transport up to 26 Legionaries or 13 Terminators, the Spartan provided a mobile, armoured fortress that could be deployed rapidly to any sector of the battlefield.

Despite its massive size, the Spartan possesses a surprising degree of agility, enabling it to manoeuvre effectively in tight spaces and avoid enemy fire. Its combination of speed, firepower, and protection makes it a truly versatile and devastating weapon, capable of turning the tide of battle in favour of the Legion Astartes forces using it.

Sons of Horus Sicaran Battle Tank

This Sons of Horus Sicaran Battle Tank was in the displays at Warhammer World.

Sons of Horus Sicaran Battle Tank
Sons of Horus Sicaran Battle Tank

The Sicaran, a formidable weapon in the Legiones Astartes arsenal, is a swift-moving destroyer tank capable of outflanking enemies and delivering devastating mid-range firepower. Despite its many variants, the core Sicaran battle tank remains a popular choice. Equipped with Herakles-pattern accelerator autocannons, it delivers a relentless barrage of high-velocity fire, capable of shredding both infantry and vehicles. Its advanced sensors allow it to track agile targets and identify weaknesses in enemy armor.

Sons of Horus Deimos Pattern Rhino

The Rhino is the most widely used armoured personnel carrier in the Imperium.

Based on ancient STC technology, the fundamental design is robust, reliable, and easy to maintain, with an adaptive power plant that can run off a wide variety of fuels, making it perfect for the wide-ranging armies of the Great Crusade – and the wars of the Horus Heresy. As such, the Rhino chassis serves as a basis for many other war machines, and these transports are produced in their thousands – several distinct patterns are in common use throughout the galaxy, with the heavily-armed Deimos being the most widespread amongst the Space Marine Legions.

Sons of Horus Kratos Heavy Assault Tank

This Sons of Horus Kratos Heavy Assault Tank was on display at Warhammer World.

Sons of Horus Kratos Heavy Assault Tank

The Kratos Heavy Assault Tank is based on an Ancient Terran pattern fielded during the Unification of Old Earth, redesigned after the Emperor’s treaty with the Lords of Mars to serve as the spearhead of the Great Crusade, a line-breaker and foe hammer. This grinding battle tank is all but impervious to enemy fire, and its steady, inexorable advance provides an indomitable core to any assault by the Legiones Astartes, enforced by a barrage of overwhelming firepower.

Behind the Kratos Heavy Assault Tank is a Sicaran Battle Tank.

The Sicaran is one of the most advanced armoured units in the arsenal of the Legiones Astartes, a fast-moving destroyer tank designed to outflank enemy formations before unleashing an overwhelming onslaught of mid-range firepower. Though its chassis supports a number of variants fielded throughout the Legions, the core Sicaran battle tank remains a versatile favourite. Armed with Herakles-pattern accelerator autocannons, it provides high-volume, high-velocity fire support that can rip through infantry and vehicles alike – its sophisticated sensors tracking swift-moving targets and pinpointing vulnerabilities in enemy armour.
