Deffkopta

As well as Killa Kans, George Dellapina’s funky Speed Freeks Ork army on display at Bristol Conflict 2004 included a flight of nice converted Deffkoptaz.

He had converted the pilots (this was the inspiration behind my converted pilots) and added Big Shootaz from Killa Kans as they matched whereas the twin-linked version on the model didn’t really look like a Big Shoota.

Deffkoptaz are now part of the main Ork Codex (released in January 2008) and in theory (after been mail order only) will be sold in the shops as a boxed set.

The Speed Freeks list only allowed three, the new Codex allows a flight of five, so I might get two more.

However I may wait as (as with the Killa Kans) there are weapon options which are not available on the metal model, so there may be a new plastic model.

Kinder Killa Kans

After talking about a possible plastic Killa Kan earlier this week I remembered I had taken some photographs of George Dellapina’s funky scratch-built Killa Kan’s at Bristol Conflict 2004.

This was a very funky army which used a range of toys to good effect for trukks and buggies. The Killa Kans were based around Kinder Eggs (the plastic bit after you have eaten the chocolate).

Forge World Sisters of Battle Repressor

This is a picture of the Forgeworld Sisters of Battle Repressor that I took at the recent Bristol Conflict event.

Though I do like the Witch Hunters army concept, as I still have quite a bit of work to do on my Daemonhunters army before I even start on a Witch Hunters army. Having said that I have always thought the Repressor is a really nice model and would make a decent transport for Inquisitorial Stormtroopers.

If I do get a Repressor I would probably add extra armour, but use homemade armour using mesh rather than the Forgeworld armour kits.

Also Forgeworld do make nice Inquisitorial doors for the Rhino which would work well on the Repressor.

Sisters of Battle Exorcist

When I was at Bristol Conflict, one of the nice things is the fact you can buy stuff which has not been released yet. One item caught my eye, which was the Sisters of Battle Exorcist.

Though I prefer the Forgeworld version, which looks more militaristic, the GW version has a certain charm and you certainly get a lot in the box.

The side panels are particularly nice and well sculptured.

Bristol Conflict

Went to Bristol Conflict today and though there were some great looking games, I was very disappointed with the availability of miniatures.

There were some pre-release miniatures, in the main Storm of Chaos, however the Forgeworld stand seemed to have about three models… and the Specialist Games stand had very little of the new Epic Armageddon miniatures around.

Still I had a good time.
