Ruined Building – Honoured Imperium

The ruined building that is included in the Honoured Imperium (as an afterthought to fill the sprue?) comes in two parts.

Ruined Building - Honoured Imperium

These fit together very easily.

Ruined Building - Honoured Imperium

Though quite nice, there need to be more ruins to make it more “realistic” when setting it on a battlefield. I might use it as the basis for a diorama.

Honoured Imperium

This box set contains three pieces of plastic Warhammer 40,000 scenery, including a 6-inch high Space Marine statue, a broken Aquila and a section of ruined building.

The broken Aquila was seen before at GamesDay 2007.

Whilst the statue (and variations) has appeared a few times as well…

Here come the Jokaero

Well I didn’t see that coming…

We are seeing the return of the Jokaero to the Warhammer 40000 universe.

Jokaero are heavyset, orange-furred apes with retractable fingers and toes, similar in appearance to the orang-utans of ancient Terra. Yet this primitive appearance is completely misleading. Jokaero are technosavants without peer and have an instinctive understanding of machinery and technological systems. So great is their skill that they can customise almost any weapon or equipment, giving a group of Henchmen more powerful weapons, better protection or even both at the same time. While outwardly they appear to be unarmed, Jokaero digital weapons can prove to be deadly, whether they choose to use a powerful laser, a flame thrower or a devastating melta weapon.

First seen in the original Rogue Trader Warhammer 40000 rule book, this is the first time an actual miniature has been released. Reminding me slightly of the Librarian from the Discworld novels I think this miniature, as well as working with the Grey Knights and Inquisitors, would also be a handy model to have to use with the Rogue Trader RPG.

Ork Kil Krusha Tank

This was of the first Forge World ork models when I went “wow”.

Ork Kil Krusha Tank

Rolling onto the battlefields of the 41st millennium for the first time is our new Kill Krusha ‘Eavy Tank for the Orks. This fearsome model is a huge full resin super-heavy tank kit for the Orks, and is designed by Daren Parrwood with crew by Mark Bedford. The intricate detail on this model really has to be seen to be believed, and it includes some incredible interior work as you can see Here as well as one Ork tank ‘Kommanda’ three Grots (and a Squig!) as crew. This giant tank is a combination of the Ork`s love of speed and violence, with overcharged engines to launch it across the battlefield (well most of the time), and a main ‘Kannon’ able to fire a number of different shell types to rain carnage down on their enemies.

The model is a realisation of the many different concept images that Forge World produced for Ork tanks.

Ork Kil Krusha Tank

I realised that I hadn’t taken a picture of the huge box of resin you get for this kit… I started, following the instructions, constructed the main armament and turret.

I didn’t though glue in the gun crew as I decided to paint them separately.

There is lots of lovely detail in this turret assembly, alas most of it won’t be seen as it will be covered by the top of the turret and the rear of the superstructure.

Caestus Assault Ram

Assault Rams are void attack craft, intended to participate in close-range space boarding actions, that can also act as drop-assault vessels for direct orbital attack. There are many patterns of Assault Ram in use across the Imperium, but among the Space Marine Chapters, the multi-role Caestus is the most commonplace. Smaller than either the Thunderhawk Gunship or the Shark-class Boarding Torpedo, the patterns’ chief advantage is its speed and phenomenal durability which make it a highly resilient assault craft, even in the most fire-swept landing zones. Compact and heavily armoured, the Caestus Assault Ram is designed to survive direct collision with an enemy, leaving only ruin in its wake.

Epic Orks

Going through some old blog posts I found that I had posted these images back in 2004. They were some of the first photographs I had taken with a DSLR of my Epic miniatures.

Most of these images used an aperture of f32 and anything up to a ten second exposure which meant using a tripod and avoiding knocking the camera.
