The Fall Of Outpost Sigma-12

One of the displays at Warhammer World was this Horus Heresy battle, entitled, The Fall Of Outpost Sigma-12.

Traitor forces breach the Imperial Fist’s last defensive lines at Outpost Sigma-12 on Cthonia. Undermined by the Sons of Horus’ subterranean onslaught, the Loyalists are determined to fight to the last in the name of the Emperor.

They ultimately reap such a toll of Traitor lives that any victory won was a hollow one. This battle would be one of the last fought during the Horus Heresy, for shortly after its bloody conclusion Horus launched his assault on the Emperor’s Palace on distant Terra.

Field Ordnance Battery

The Imperial Guard field a range of human-portable weapons. Crewed by ordnance teams they provide a range of choices for the Astra Militarum in supporting combined arms assault with infantry and tanks. They use bombast field guns, malleus rocket launchers and heavy lascannons.

Solar Auxilia Shadowsword

The Shadowsword is the sister tank to the Baneblade, a super-heavy vehicle employed by Solar Auxilia cohorts to engage and destroy enemy macro-engines with its volcano cannon. The same chassis has also been adapted to mount different primary weapons suited to their own modes of destruction, like the bunker-busting Stormsword siege cannon or the versatile plasma blastgun of the Stormblade.

Taurox Prime

When the Militarum Tempestu need to transport their soldiers into the heart of battle, they use the Taurox Prime. It is a well armed and armoured infantry assault vehicle. It is usually armed with an array of heavy weapons. It is the ideal support vehicle for the Militarum Tempestus on the battlefield.

The Forge World Ork Shanty Town diorama was changed to have the Militarum Tempestu driving in to the town in their Taurox Prime armoured vehicles to rescue a downed Valkyrie flyer.

When the Taurox was released back in 2014, I said back then.

The Taurox Prime is a new model from Games Workshop, and I really don’t like it. I think it’s too tall and the tracked “wheels” fail to work for me.

I wasn’t alone in that though as the comments show in that post.

Bullgryns

Bullgryns
Bullgryns

Bullgryns are recruited from most obstinate of the Ogryn strain of abhumans, clad in heavy armour and armed with rugged assault weaponry built to withstand their unwieldy strength. A line of these heavily-muscled humanoids is a frightening sight, advancing in shield-lines from which shots bounce harmlessly, issuing thunderous blows with heavy mauls and lobbing explosives as they charge.

Solar Auxilia Medusa

The Solar Auxilia’s Medusa artillery tanks are behemoths of destruction, their Leman Russ hulls cloaked in heavy armor. Their devastating guns, protected from enemy fire and hazardous environments, can reduce enemy fortifications to rubble. These mobile fortresses, capable of shattering mighty walls, advance alongside the Auxilia cohorts, softening enemy defenses and paving the way for the main assault.

Macharius Omega

The Macharius Heavy Tank is used by the Imperial Guard. As with many Imperial armoured vehicles, there are various variants of the Macharius. The Macharius Omega is one such variant, it is armed with the Omega Pattern Plasma Blastgun.

The Omega Pattern Plasma Blastgun is a derivative of the Ryza Pattern Blastgun, optimised for reduced weight and size. This is achieved through the implementation of a compact generator and a smaller force crucible, allowing for integration into lighter platforms such as the Macharius.

The Ryza Pattern Blastgun is commonly deployed on the Stormblade super-heavy tank.

Imperialis Militia Carnodon Battle Tank

The Imperialis Militia Carnodon Battle Tank is medium battle tank which was one of the main armoured vehicles used by the Imperial Army during the Great Crusade.

As it was replaced by other vehicles a great many Carnodon Battle Tanks were placed in the strategic reserve. They were often used by planetary militia.

This is the Forge World model in the display cabinets at Warhammer World.

Solar Auxilia Leman Russ

The Solar Auxilia use the Leman Russ Strike Tanks in various roles. The tanks have been upgraded with solar-pattern survival systems, this allows the tank and the crew to fight in any harsh conditions on different planets.

Solar Auxilia Leman Russ

It is usually armed with one of four primary weapons – a battlecannon, twinned heavy lascannons or autocannons, or a long-barrelled Vanquisher battlecannon with a co-axial autocannon.
