My Ork Stormboyz about to launch their jetpacks.
How I painted these models.
Orks versus Imperial Guard in the ruins of an Imperial City.
The Ork Stormboyz have placed themselves in an Imperial ruin. Slightly at risk from the unexploded Grot Bomb that was launched and missed earlier in the game.
Meks and Burnaboyz disembark from an Ork Gunwagon.
Models from my collection.
I like using Meks in my games of Warhammer 40k, as they are able to “fix” damaged Ork vehicles. This unit is used less for combat, but act more as mechanics fixing all the stuff that got immobilised or damaged by the Imperial Guard.
One of my Ork Boar Boyz outside his comfort zone in amongst the ruins of an Imperial City.
These are very clever and evocative images from World War Two that have been “shopped” into modern day photographs at the same location.

Space Marine Infantry Upgrade Sets Available to Pre-Order Now:
MkIV ‘Maximus’ Armour Set
Leading this weeks’ batch of Space Marine releases is the impressive MkIV ‘Maximus’ Armour Set, available to pre-order now. This intricately sculpted full resin kit, designed by Will Hayes and Phil Stutcinskas, provides enough parts to build 5 Space Marines in MkIV ‘Maximus’ Armour, including two different sets of legs, shoulder pads, arms, torsos and helmets.
This pattern of power armour was developed towards the end of the Great Crusade, using advanced technologies recovered by Astartes forces from scattered Forge Worlds across the Imperium. Despite being intended as the pinnacle of power armour technology, and containing many advanced systems, MkIV armour remains a valued rarity among most Chapters.
You can see the components of this resin kit here, along with a photo gallery showing examples of how these brilliant parts can be combined with other Forge World resin accessories such as our Bolter sets and Special Weapon packs.
The MkIV ‘Maximus’ Armour can be pre-ordered now for despatch in the week commencing August 23rd.
Umbra Ferrox Pattern Bolter Pack
Like the Umbra Pattern Bolter Pack, the Umbra Ferrox bolter variant was mass-produced by Chapter Techmarines in order to ensure a continuous supply of arms and munitions during the dark days of the Horus Heresy. The Ferrox-pattern weapon exchanges the sickle clip for a box magazine, allowing for a greater ammunition capacity. The weapon features an inbuilt long-range gun-sight, incorporating additional Target Reciprocator Systems that mesh with the Autosenses of power armour.
These detailed weapons are perfect for converting Sternguard Veteran Squads, their larger magazines representing the capacity to choose between the various special ammunition types detailed in Codex: Space Marines.
Click here to see the parts and accessories supplied in this pack. The Umbra Ferrox Bolter Pack, designed by Will Hayes and Phil Stutcinskas, contains 10 detailed weapons and optional combat blades, and can be pre-ordered now for despatch in the week commencing August 23rd.
All these fantastic new releases, in addition to the Caestus Assault Ram, MkIII ‘Iron’ Armour, Umbra Pattern Bolters and Special Weapons, are available to pre-order now for despatch in the week commencing August 23rd.

Forge World will be attending Games Day Baltimore on August 21st, and we hope to have limited quantities of these new Space Marine releases, as well as the usual dizzying selection of our existing range. Our Studio area will be manned by Paul Rudge, Forge World Book Production Manager, who will be showcasing final proof copies of the forthcoming, secret Imperial Armour project. We can’t tell you much more about this for now, but stay tuned to future newsletters for more details…
New from Games Workshop (well announced this week) are the Imperial Guard Manticore and Deathstrike missile systems.
Deadly long-range artillery, the Imperial Guard Manticore Rocket Launcher and Deathstrike Missile Launchers are incredibly destructive war machines. While the Manticore launches a salvo of rockets, each of which disperses into multiple warheads, the Deathstrike fires a single, incredibly dangerous missile.
These fearsome vehicles are favoured by Imperial Guard commanders who like to pound their enemy into oblivion with relentless firepower from the other side of the battlefield.
These models which originated from the Epic gaming system give Imperial Guard players some very heavy artillery. It comes as one kit with the choice of either making it up as a Manticore or as a Deathstrike. Forge World gave us a 40K Manticore, but this is the first time we have seen an (official) Deathstrike.
I do like the Manticore which as a much lower profile than either the Epic or Forge World versions, but as for the Deathstrike… well it’s a nice model, but having seen the Epic version! I know that I would have liked to have seen something similar to this.
Nice models, and I suspect Simon will be buying a few boxes…
I didn’t get to Salute 2010 as I originally planned. However there are some nice photographs on the Salute 2010 website, with more promised later.
It would appear that there are Orky Copters on show at the Forge World Open Day 2010.
Alas I couldn’t make it this year, so like everyone else I am waiting for photographs…
