You can now pre-order the DVD or Blu Ray which will be released on the 1st May.

Sharpe’s Challenge will be on ITV on the 23rd and 24th April and BBC Worldwide will be showing it in other parts of the world.

Plot

Sean Bean is back as the swashbuckling hero in Sharpe’s Challenge, an action packed mini-series to be shot on location in Rajasthan, India. Two years after the Duke of Wellington crushes Napoleon at Waterloo, dispatches from India tell of a local Maharaja, Khande Rao, who is threatening British interests there. Wellington sends Sharpe to investigate on what turns out to be his most dangerous mission to date. When a beautiful general’s daughter is kidnapped by the Indian warlord, the tension mounts, leaving Sharpe no option but to pursue the enemy right into its deadly lair. Deep in the heart of enemy territory he also has to keep at bay the beautiful but scheming Regent, Madhuvanthi, who is out to seduce him. The fate of an Empire and the life of a General’s daughter lie in one man’s hands….

Third series for Dr Who and Rose

Doctor Who is back for a second series and the Time Lord will be around for a while, because star David Tennant has signed up for a third.

Billie Piper, his assistant Rose Tyler, has also confirmed she is on board the Tardis for the third run of the return of the BBC’s sci-fi hit.

BBC News article

This is excellent and I am glad to hear that David is staying for another season as I was disappointed that Chris Ecclestone only did the one series.

Looking forward to seeing the new series, especially with the return of the Cybermen and K9.

++++ MESSAGE BEGINS ++++

Today’s issue of the Forge World newsletter is dedicated to the imminent release of the latest Imperial Armour book. I’ll try to give you an idea of what to expect inside, and show you a few page spreads too.

Imperial Armour Volume 4 – The Anphelion Project (Plot)

When Ordo Xenos Inquisitor Solomon Lok receives orders to investigate the loss of astropathic communications from a moon in the Anphelion system, he begins a journey into darkness, horror and treachery. Assisted by Space Marines of the Red Scorpions Chapter, Elysian Drop Troops of Special Detachment D-99 and Guardsmen of the 266th Cadian Regiment, Lok’s forces are faced by mist enshrouded swamps and a deserted laboratory facility. Soon, Lok and his men encounter the horror of the laboratory’s escaped subjects – the Tyranids. Amongst the ammonia-swamps of Beta Anphelion IV and along the corridors of the Anphelion base, Lok must fight to recover the lab’s secret data and escape before being overrun by the Tyranids lurking outside. But even as Lok fights for his very survival, all is not as it seems within the ranks of the Ordo Xenos. Make no mistake; this is a dark and savage story.

Inside this 176 page large format hardback book you’ll find details and information on the Tyranid creatures spawned by the Hive Mind and the fighting machines used by the Imperium. We’ve included background information, interior details, technical specifications, illustrations, colour schemes and rules for using all these monsters, creatures, vehicles and troop types in the special scenarios within the book and in other games of Warhammer 40,000.

The book uses lots of colour and black and white pictures, full colour Imperial vehicle and Tyranid creature profiles, technical drawings plus organisation charts and scenarios. There is also an army list for the Elysian Drop Troop veterans of Special Detachment D-99, new background and rules for the Red Scorpions Space Marine Chapter and details on Inquisitor Lok and his retinue. In the next few Forge World Newsletters we will be showing you a whole pile of new models that can be used for re-creating the savage encounters between the Tyranids and the Imperial forces. Believe me; some of these are just GORGEOUS!

Orks advance through ruined buildings

Here is a photograph from a recent game in which my Orks attempted to attack a heavily defended ruined Imperial City.

Here they are advancing through a ruined building.

Orks with Heavy Weapons

I have been thinking about adding some more heavy weapons to my Ork squads which are useful when facing Imperial armour. These are the metal models, however I have replaced some of the metals parts with plastic ones to add variety and to add variety of some plastic conversions as well.

I have now undercoated the models with a white undercoat. This is the front…

…and this is the back…

As you can see I have used some parts from the Orc Warrior sprue.

They will be painted in a similar manner to my other Orks.

TankBustaz

Here are two of my Ork Tankbustaz

They are simple conversions, using the plastic Ork Boyz and then adding metal grenades from the Stormboyz metal extraz sprue.

They received a black undercoat followed by a drybrush of Tin Bitz and Boltgun Metal before their skin was given a base coat of Snot Green.

Next stage is to highlight the skin with Goblin Green.

++++ MESSAGE BEGINS ++++

It’s time for another issue of the Forge World Newsletter. In this edition we have some new Cadian models to show you, another variant on the deadly Broadside battlesuit and some great new Black Templars Rhino and Land Raider door sets as well.
Thx,

Ewen Little,
Forge World.

New Cadian Special Weapons

Carrying on from our recent Cadian infantry releases, we have two more great new Cadian figures to show you. Mark Bedford has made a model of a Respirator equipped Cadian with Plasma Gun and another armed with a Meltagun. This pack of two models will come as complete multi-part models with separate legs, torsos, heads, backpacks and accessories such as pouches etc. Of course, these new models are perfectly compatible with the rest of the Forge World and Games Workshop range of Cadians. I like these new heads Mark has made: They have a little flip-up monocular on the side of the helmet as an aid for targeting. I think they are really cool!

Tau Broadside with Plasma Rifles

Tau force commanders will soon be able to deploy the hitherto unavailable Broadside battlesuit variant, armed with twin-linked plasma rifles in place of the smart missile system. Will Hayes just finished work on this yesterday, so web-guy Paul grabbed it to photograph and get it into the newsletter at the last possible moment. The model uses almost all the components from Will’s original Broadside released last November, of course adding in two nice shoulder-mounted plasma rifles and a great new head.

New Black Templars Rhino and Land Raider doors

With the release of Codex Black Templars fresh in a lot of peoples’ minds, our original plan was to make sets of Veteran Black Templars doors for both Rhinos and Land Raiders. These stalwart warriors deserve that little bit extra ornamentation to raise them above their battle brothers and their vehicles should be no exception. These two new sets of doors do that quite magnificently with large, beautifully crafted icons proudly on display for all to see. There is of course no reason not to use these new door sets to adorn the vehicles for ‘normal’ squads within your Black Templars army if you’d rather. Together with the existing sets of Black Templars Rhino and Land Raider doors, these new sets allow even more ways of super-detailing and personalising your fighting force.
