Ork Big Mek

In the most recent UK White Dwarf they had some pictures of the new models they are releasing for their new summer campaign.

One of these is a Ork Big Mek.

 Ork Big Mek

It will be nice to see some new Ork models.

I hope this is something we will see more of, I have disliked the way that GW release whole armies now and whilst doing so ignore the other armies.

I have often wondered about this strategy especially in terms of people adding to their armies. I also suppose that some people will always go out and buy the new big thing (whether they paint it is a different story).

I like what GW use to do back in the 1980s when they released new miniatures every month for a range of armies rather than concentrating on two big releases like they do now.

Also released this summer will be some new Ork Kommandos.

Forge World Newsletter #144

++++ MESSAGE BEGINS ++++

Today’s issue of the Forge World Newsletter features several new releases for the Red Scorpions Space Marine Chapter who feature throughout our new book, ‘Imperial Armour Volume 4 – The Anphelion Project’. I’ve popped in a link to the new book again in case anyone missed our last newsletter which shows the Red Scorpions’s colour scheme as will as several other example pages. I must admit, I really, REALLY like the colours and iconography of the Red Scorpions. Owen Rees has done a great job painting some Red Scorpions for us as you will see. That new Terminator special character is very tempting too. Now where’s my wallet..?
Thx,

Ewen Little,
Forge World.

New Special Character – Commander Culln of the Red Scorpions
Commander Carab Culln, Captain of the Red Scorpions 1st Company, led squads of Terminators to cleanse the Tyranid infestation from the research stations on Beta Anphelion IV. Commander Culln’s suit of Terminator armour has been artfully re-worked by artificers to display his and the Chapter’s heraldry on the battlefield. This fantastic model comes with a choice of two heads in each pack: A modified Terminator helmet, and the other, the bare head of Culln himself. The power sword that the Commander wields in his right hand is quite a fearsome size, measuring in at 25mm/1 inch long. Standing on its tip, it is level with the shoulders of a ‘normal’ Space Marine!

Red Scorpions Veteran Marines with Veteran Sergeant Haas
Fighting alongside the Terminators in elite units of their own and leading basic squads of Marines into battle were Red Scorpions Veteran Marines. Being a very traditional and conservative Chapter, the use of older marks of armour and weapons systems is more common within the ranks of the Red Scorpions than in some other Marine Chapters. This pack contains parts to upgrade ten plastic Marines into Red Scorpions Veterans wearing MkIV armour as well as the pieces to make another into Veteran Sergeant Haas, a survivor of the savage fighting recorded in ‘Imperial Armour Volume 4 – The Anphelion Project’.

Red Scorpions Shoulder Pads and Terminator Shoulder Pads
The perfect way to expand a force of Red Scorpions Marines is to upgrade squads of Marines or Terminators with these two new packs of detailed resin shoulder pads. The upgrade pack for Space Marines equipped with Power Armour has two each of five different designs of shoulder pad, ten in total, enough for a full-sized squad of Red Scorpions. The Terminator upgrade pack has five individually detailed shoulder pads displaying the Chapter iconography of the Red Scorpions and five shoulder pads bearing the Terminator badge of honour, the Crux Terminatus.

Red Scorpions Etched Brass Icons and Symbols
To decorate Dreadnoughts, Rhinos, Land Raiders and other vehicles, we have also made a sheet of etched brass Red Scorpions icons and symbols. As you can see from the picture of the Land Raider Owen Rees painted for us, these do a great job. As I’ve mentioned several times before, there are so many uses for these wonderful little symbols you will find yourself sticking them almost anywhere.

Imperial Armour Volume 4 – The Anphelion Project
When Ordo Xenos Inquisitor Solomon Lok receives orders to investigate the loss of astropathic communications from a moon in the Anphelion system, he begins a journey into darkness, horror and treachery. Assisted by Space Marines of the Red Scorpions Chapter, Elysian Drop Troops of Special Detachment D-99 and Guardsmen of the 266th Cadian Regiment, Lok’s forces are faced by mist enshrouded swamps and a deserted laboratory facility. Soon, Lok and his men encounter the horror of the laboratory’s escaped subjects – the Tyranids. Amongst the ammonia-swamps of Beta Anphelion IV and along the corridors of the Anphelion base, Lok must fight to recover the lab’s secret data and escape before being overrun by the Tyranids lurking outside. But even as Lok fights for his very survival, all is not as it seems within the ranks of the Ordo Xenos. Make no mistake; this is a dark and savage story.

Third series for Dr Who and Rose

Doctor Who is back for a second series and the Time Lord will be around for a while, because star David Tennant has signed up for a third.

Billie Piper, his assistant Rose Tyler, has also confirmed she is on board the Tardis for the third run of the return of the BBC’s sci-fi hit.

BBC News article

This is excellent and I am glad to hear that David is staying for another season as I was disappointed that Chris Ecclestone only did the one series.

Looking forward to seeing the new series, especially with the return of the Cybermen and K9.

Imperial Armour Volume 4 – The Anphelion Project (Plot)

When Ordo Xenos Inquisitor Solomon Lok receives orders to investigate the loss of astropathic communications from a moon in the Anphelion system, he begins a journey into darkness, horror and treachery. Assisted by Space Marines of the Red Scorpions Chapter, Elysian Drop Troops of Special Detachment D-99 and Guardsmen of the 266th Cadian Regiment, Lok’s forces are faced by mist enshrouded swamps and a deserted laboratory facility. But even as Lok fights for his very survival, all is not as it seems within the ranks of the Ordo Xenos. Make no mistake; this is a dark and savage story.

Inside this 176 page large format hardback book you’ll find details and information on the Tyranid creatures spawned by the Hive Mind and the fighting machines used by the Imperium. We’ve included background information, interior details, technical specifications, illustrations, colour schemes and rules for using all these monsters, creatures, vehicles and troop types in the special scenarios within the book and in other games of Warhammer 40,000.

The book uses lots of colour and black and white pictures, full colour Imperial vehicle and Tyranid creature profiles, technical drawings plus organisation charts and scenarios. There is also an army list for the Elysian Drop Troop veterans of Special Detachment D-99, new background and rules for the Red Scorpions Space Marine Chapter and details on Inquisitor Lok and his retinue. In the next few Forge World Newsletters we will be showing you a whole pile of new models that can be used for re-creating the savage encounters between the Tyranids and the Imperial forces. Believe me; some of these are just GORGEOUS!
