Ork Looted Rhino Gunner

I have started work on an Ork Gunner for my Looted Rhino. I have used a resin Twin Big Shoota from Forge World. A plastic Ork body and an Imperial turret ring.

Here is how it is looking with the gunner. Not sure what I am going to do with the other hatch space.

I am quite pleased with how the model is looking, I still need to do a lot to the paint job, but conversion wise I like the result so far.

Forge World Ork New Stuff

With the release of Codex Orks in January, I wonder if we will see anything new from Forge World.

When the Dark Angels Codex was released we saw a nice new Forge World Dark Angels Dreadnought.

We haven’t see much new stuff for the Orks over the last few years and it will be interesting to see if there will be anything.

It would be nice to see some new Ork vehicles as well as conversion kits for the new Trukk.

I wonder if any heavy Ork artillery will be made, something like a large Pulsa Rokkit.

I gather from talking to Forge World staff at GamesDay that we will see (at some point) a 28mm version of the Aeronautica Imperialis Ork Heavy Bommer which was recently released.

I would like to see a variant Squiggoth (the £75 version not the £200 one) possibly with an armoured turret (akin to the Epic models).

I doubt we will see an Ork Gargant or a Stompa, but you never know.

Ork Sqwadron Commander

At GamesDay 2007 I got one of the show only limited edition miniatures, the Ork Sqwadron Commander.

Ork Sqwadron Commander

A very nice casting which comprises three pieces.

You get the main body and two arms, this is the rear view.

Ork Sqwadron Commander

It is a really nice casting and I am looking forward to painting it.

Workbench feature on the Ork Sqwadron Commander for future updates.

Grot Bomb Launcha

I have put together my third Grot Bomb Launcha.

Grot Bomb Launcha

You can see how I put together and painted my first on this section of my website and how far I have got with the second here.

This casting was so much better than my second model. There was virtually no flash and no warpage (is that a word) either. It fitted together really nicely.

This is probably my favourite model of all time, so I will be pleased when I have finished all three and I have a barrage of them.

Ork Army Box, Deal or No Deal

Details of the pre-release Ork Army Box is now available on the GW site. It will be available to get on the 22nd December, whilst the general Ork range will not be on sale until January.

Ork Army Box

It contains a fair few new miniatures.

The Ork Spearhead contains a selection of the new Ork releases and is available in hobby centres of from Games Workshop Direct before the official release date. These sets are available in strictly limited numbers, so get ’em while you can! This box set contains: 10 Ork Boyz, 5 Ork Lootas or Burna Boyz, 5 Tankbusters, 2 Bomb Squigs, 3 Ork Warbikerz, 1 Ork Trukk, 1 Ork Big Mek with Shokk Attack Gun and 1 Ork Weirdboy.

However unlike other army deals it does not contain the new Ork Codex. I was considering getting the box, partly to save money and partly to get the Codex early. Now I am not so sure.

Epic scale Ork Bommerz

Here are some pictures of the Forgeworld Epic scale Ork Bommer for Aeronautica Imperialis.

Epic scale Ork Bommer

Though these were announced a few months ago, it was nice to see them for real at GamesDay 2007.

Epic scale Ork Bommerz

They are really nicely done models with a lot of character.

Epic scale Ork Bommerz

They’re not quite as I envisaged what Ork heavy bommerz would look like, these seem to be just more bulbous Ork fighters, whereas I imagined something along the lines of a spindly Marauder, maybe a little like a RAF Lancaster or Short Stirling from World War Two.

GamesDay 2007 Limited Edition

I have always felt that if I pay £25 for a ticket into GamesDay I should get at least one miniature free.

Back in the good old days I do remember getting a goody bag, one which sticks in my mind contained a free Kroot sprue.

Now I know I could queue for (what seems like an age) and try one of the modelling stands and get some free plastic miniatures, but this year the queues were horrendous, last year I made a tree stand.

Every year (for a fair few years now) Games Workshop have released a limited edition Games Day miniature which is an additional cost to the price of the ticket.

By the way does it count as a limited edition if you can buy last years limited edition at this year’s show at a discount!

This year’s limited edition was an orc and a goblin, and yes I did buy it.

GamesDay 2007 Limited Edition Orc

I am intending to use it with my feral orks, looks like a nice model.

GamesDay 2007

Today I was at GamesDay 2007, and yes I did take a load of pictures (over 200) and yes I am uploading them as I speak.

Next year I think I will use a mobile phone and Shozu so that they are uploaded as I take them… that will be different.

I did enjoy the show, much more than last year. I suspect this may have been because there were lots of new Orks on show. Last year (for me anyway) I had already seen all the preview stuff, this year there was loads I hadn’t seen.

Here is the new Ork Trukk which will be out on the 7th January (in the UK).

new Ork Trukk

Forgeworld had some nice displays, but didn’t seem to have as much new and unknown stuff as they use to have in previous years (maybe they are just getting it out faster).

They did though have the Reaver Titan.

Eventually you will be able to find all my photographs on the site.
