Wartrakk Gunner

Wartrakk Gunner for a Trukk or Squiggoth…

If you get an Ork Skorcha or Grot Bomb Launcha, you also get as a result a spare Gunner.

This is one I am in the process of painting up.

 Wartrakk Gunner

I am going to use it on either a Trukk or my Squiggoth.

It is a pity that the rules/codex don’t allow you to use more twin-linked Big Shootas.

Warmaster Historical

According to Rick Priestly (who is probably the best source on these kind of things), there will be an historical version of Warmaster to be released by Warhammer Historical Wargames.

Ah well Ed fortunately I still have the old old job to go back to – but as of last week I have been officially on holiday or, to put it another way, finishing off the historical version of Warmaster for Warhammer Historical Wargames.

I wonder if they will produce some miniatures???

Homeward Bound released 28th December 2004

Homeward Bound released 28th December 2004

Homeward Bound is going to be published on 28th December 2004, it is a sequel to the WorldWar in the Balance and Colonisation series.

Review from Amazon:

Alternate-history maestro Turtledove’s conclusion to his Worldwar and Colonization sagas, about how lizard-like aliens known as the Race invaded Earth during WWII and were fought to a stalemate by the major Allied and Axis combatants, lacks the vividly described battle scenes of its predecessors, but more than compensates by closely examining the Race’s culture and society.

While the Race have colonized much of Earth, they’re amazed by the human ability to adapt to change. (The aliens’ probe some 600 years earlier led them to expect they’d be facing armored knights.) When an American starship makes the trip to Home, the Race’s planet of origin, the lizards fear the loss of their technological dominance and decide to annihilate Earth, their colony included—until another Earth spaceship arrives, this one with the faster-than-light drive the Race never developed.

The question of how much common ground exists between the lizards and humans wouldn’t have been out of place in old issues of Astounding. The author dramatizes the old “nature versus nurture” argument through the moving stories of a human woman raised from birth by the lizards and of two aliens raised as humans. Fans will be pleased that room remains for a sequel.

I really enjoyed the WorldWar series and combined with Guns of the South made me a real Turtledove fan.

You can pre-order the book now on amazon.co.uk.

Capitol Imperialis

At UK GamesDay 2004 the Fantic table had a file full of pictures, here are some of the Capitol Imperialis.

here’s another one…

one more…

This is a photo of the original model.

I am not sure if I like the new concept which seems a little too gothic for the Imperial Guard.

Anyway with the re-organisation of Fanatic we may never actually see a new model!

Chronicles of Narnia

I like The Chronicles of Narnia, yes I know there is an underlying Christian message, but I didn’t know this when I was a kid and enjoyed the fantasy novel at face value.

I am sure that there are many people out there who have checked out an old wardrobe in a relative’s house wondering if it was a gateway to a fantasy world.

Quite a few current books I am sure were inspired by CS Lewis’ creation.

Worth checking out.
