Eldar Hornet

These photographs are from the Forge World displays at GamesDay 2010 which is when we first saw the Hornet.

The Hornet is a light tank employed by Eldar armoured forces in a fast reconnaissance and raiding role. Piloted by a single crewman, it can be found in the forefront of Eldar aspect warrior assault waves, speeding ahead of heavier Falcons and Wave Serpents and often operating alongside other high-speed attack craft such as jetbikes and Vypers.

I do quite like the model and if I had the time, money and inclination for Eldar I would probably get some, but as I don’t, I won’t! I much prefer this over the Falcon.

Eldar Avatar

From the display at Warhammer World was this fantastic Eldar Avatar.

Every craftworld is home to an Eldar Avatar who sits motionless until the call to arms begins. He is the embodiment of an ancient God, molten iron flowing through his veins. In his right he carries the Wailing Doom, the weapon of the bloodstained God which cries for the taste of mortal flesh.

The painter has created a wonderful fire energy effect beneath the armour, the Avatar looks like it is brimming with plasma or something equally powerful.

Eldar Phantom Titan

One of the highlights of GamesDay 2010 was Will Hayes’ Eldar Phantom Titan. This is the sketch model.

Very impressive and very tall.

It will be at least six months before it goes on sale and probably closer to nine months.

One of the interesting comments from the Forge World seminar on the logistics of Forge World. Basically they have the resources to make one BIG model every two years. In 2009 we saw the Reaver Titan, 2011 we see the Eldar Phantom Titan.

So what do we see in 2013?

I know I would like to see an Ork Gargant, however I suspect that a Warlord Titan is probably the most likely option.

Another comment made in the seminar was that the resin and process they use, is used by companies such as Rolls Royce to make resin models of their aircraft engines. This means that size isn’t really an issue! So a Capitol Imperialis is certainly possible from a logistics perspective, from a market perspective, some would sell, but would enough sell to make it worthwhile for Forge World to make one?
