GamesDay 2005 and Golden Demon Photographs

I have put online the two hundred odd photographs I took at GamesDay online (you have seen some here already).

This Damocles Command Rhino won the Forgeworld Best of Show prize in the 2005 UK Golden Demon awards. The radar dish moved around and as you can see in this shot, the inside included “real” lights (made from LEDs). It was very well painted and made good use of the Forgeworld Imperial Fists doors.

I use to not like this model, the fact it was based on that awful plastic four wheeled Ork Battlewagon (from GW a few years back) was probably the reason.

However I think because I got some of the Epic Ork Gunwagons I have grown to like it. I did try and buy the basic Gunwagon at GamesDay, but they had none in stock.

Thud

I saw on Amazon that Terry Pratchett has a new book out, Thud.

Koom Valley? That was where the trolls ambushed the dwarfs, or the trolls ambushed the dwarfs. It was far away. It was a long time ago. But if he doesn’t solve the murder of just one dwarf, Commander Sam Vimes of Ankh-Morpork City Watch is going to see it fought again, right outside his office. With his beloved Watch crumbling around him and war-drums sounding, he must unravel every clue, outwit every assassin and brave any darkness to find the solution. And darkness is following him. Oh…and at six o’clock every day, without fall, with no excuses, he must go home to read ‘Where’s My Cow?’, with all the right farmyard noises, to his little boy. There are some things you have to do.

I use to be a big fan of Terry Pratchett, I stopped some books back and I have never managed to get back into him. Maybe I ought to try as I still think Mort is one of the best books I have read.

What I find quite revealing about the model (and it is a display model) is that this is a conversion, the Wartrakk’s tracks have been replaced by wheels and the driver has had its top half replaced by an Ork Boyz model. These extra parts are not included in the Forgeworld kit, but I would have thought a display model should be as you get it and not with added bitz…
