Flames of War German Armoured Train
After much consideration I did in the end get a German Armoured Train for Flames of War, well an armoured locomotive to begin with.
Though they were not used on the Western Front (as far as I am aware) it is my intention to use it against British (and American) tanks. Then again I might just get in a few Soviet tanks for a quick game.
As with most Battlefront models the kit contains resin with metal parts for the details. The engine and tender are two resin parts with the front, the funnel and the wheels in metal.
Next stage will be washing the resin, and cleaning the castings before constructing the engine.
Kingdom of Britannia Ruler Class Battleship
As with the frigates and the cruisers I gave the Ruler Class Battleship from the Dystopian Wars Kingdom of Britannia, a wash of Citadel Shade: Agrax Earthshade. I did this to add shadow and shade and emphasise the decking.
I did consider painting parts of the model bronze or copper, to add a victorian science fiction feel, but in the end kept the model mostly grey to be more naval looking. Another thing I have seen on other peoples’ models is making elements of the model a glowing “cobalt” blue colour. I might do that if I go down the route of painting a Covenant of Antarctica naval force.
I think these models have an interesting design concept, but they’re not my favourite.
Next stage will be drybrushing.
Victorian Science Fiction Steam Tank and Cowboys
Here is my Victorian Science Fiction Steam Tank from Ironclad Miniatures helping support two Dixon Miniatures cowboys.
See how the Steam Tank was painted.
More photographs of the Steam Tank.
See the Old West Miniatures Gallery.
Washing the Frigates
I gave the models a wash of Citadel Shade: Agrax Earthshade. I decided against painting the decks of the Attacker Class Frigates as these are very small models and the decking was quite fiddly to paint.
As you can see I have stuck three onto each wooden stick for ease of painting.
This is a very quick method of adding shadow and shade to the models.
Doctor Who: The Spear of Destiny
As part of the 50th Anniversary of Doctor Who, there are going to be eleven short novels from famous authors covering (as you might have guessed) all eleven Doctors.
The third book is The Spear of Destiny and features the third Doctor and Jo Grant, oh and Vikings.
The Third Doctor and Jo Grant are trying to track down the magical spear of Odin when they find themselves caught up in a vicious battle between two Viking tribes. But one of the Vikings is even more dangerous than he appears to be. Can the Doctor stop the spear getting into the wrong hands before it’s too late?
Washing the Tribal Class Cruisers
Having painted the decks of the Kingdom of Britannia Tribal Class Cruisers.
I gave the models a wash of Citadel Shade: Agrax Earthshade.
The wash helps to add shade and shadow and emphasise the decking.
Emmet Gates
Having finished painting and basing Emmet Gates, here are some photographs of him in my desert scenery.
See the full workbench feature on Emmet Gates.
So now must finish the rest of the Old West figures from Foundry I have.
Old West Steam Tank
Having finished painting my Victorian Science Fiction Steam Tank (from Ironclad Miniatures) that I will be using in an Old West setting, I took some photographs of it in my desert terrain.
See the workbench feature on how I painted the Steam Tank.
Prussian Empire – Dystopian Wars
Here are the first models I have painted (and completed) for Dystopian Wars. Here is the Prussian Empire Blucher Class Dreadnought, probably passing too close to a bunker complex.
Here are some Arminius Class Frigates passing the same bunker!
The bunker model is a 1/300th scale model from Snapdragon Studio.
Here is a close up of one of my Arminius Class Frigates.
More frigates.
Here are the Arminius Class Frigates alongside the Blucher Class Dreadnought.
More photographs of the Blucher Class Dreadnought.
See my Dystopian Wars Workbench, to see how I painted these models and what else I am painting.
