One of the Pinkerton Men
Another one of the Wargames Foundry Old West figures I found. This is one of the Pinkerton Men from the OW9/1 Shootists set. I based the model on a two pence piece. I “flocked” the base with Citadel Sand and then gave the model a white undercoat using a Citadel Skull White spray can.
Using Chaos Black I then painted the model’s hat, shoes and pistol.
Sheriff McQuaige – The Old West
Sheriff McQuaige is part of the OW11/6 Town Toughs & Staunch Defenders pack. As the Sheriff is wearing a suit, as well as carrying a shotgun, he could be used in Victorian Science Fiction scenarios. He certainly could be walking the streets of London as well as the dusty tracks of the old west.
I “flocked” the base with Citadel Sand and then gave the model a white undercoat using a Citadel Skull White spray can.
Using Chaos Black I then painted the Sheriff’s hat, shoes and shotgun.
Ned Buck, nearly finished
I have nearly finished painting Ned Buck.
I gave the model a wash of Citadel Agrax Earthshade.
The next stage will be some highlighting and getting the base finished.
Cemetery Sam
Cemetery Sam is part of OW11/7 The Town Vigilance Committee one of the packs of Old West miniatures from Foundry.
I based the model on a two pence piece. I do like this model, and I think it could also be used for Victorian Science Fiction scenarios.
I used Citadel sand on the base, before giving the model a white undercoat. I then painted his suit and top hat with black paint.
Sheriff Milt Mast
Sheriff Milt Mast is part of the OW9/3 Lawmen pack.
The model was based on a two pence piece.
I used Citadel sand on the base, before giving the model a white undercoat. His hat was then painted a dark brown.
Next stage will be more basecoat.
Bolt Action Citroen Civilian 4,500kg Truck with Canopy
In addition to the Bolt Action Citroen Civilian 1000kg Dropside Truck I also bought a slightly bigger truck, the Citroen Civilian 4,500kg Truck with Canopy.
Citroen made many of these trucks in the 1930s and 1940s.
The pack contains a resin and metal kit, this is a nice clean casting.

Citroen Civilian 1000kg Dropside Truck
I decided that my partisan band for Bolt Action might need some transport, so did I think about getting an armoured car, well I did think about getting a Char B1, but in the end I got the Warlord Games Bolt Action Citroen Civilian 1000kg Dropside Truck.
The model comes in a blister pack and comprises a clean resin casting and some metal components.
As with many models I like to see what the original vehicle looked like and also what others have done with their models. The original Citroen truck was derived from a car.
I have always found painting civiliian vehicles slightly troublesome, military vehicles are usually very drab, matt and weathered. Civillian trucks however are “colourful”.
So hoping some people have some useful ideas or methods they would like to share in the comments.
Tally Ho Rolls Royce Armoured Car
This model was the first one I bought for Tally Ho! It has been stuck in a box for about twenty years..
I can’t recall the manufacturer, but they were small and relatively new, I even remember discussing licensing the models for a commercial version of Tally Ho! However that didn’t go any further and the model went into a box…
As well as Tally Ho! I am also going to use it with Bolt Action with my Home Guard Unit, and possibly A Very British Civil War.
The Rolls-Royce armoured car was a British armoured car developed in 1914 and used in World War I and in the early part of World War II.
At the outbreak of World War II, 76 vehicles were in service. They were used in operations in the Western Desert, in Iraq, and in Syria. By the end of 1941, they were withdrawn from the frontline service as modern armoured car designs became available.
This is a 1920s version of the Armoured Car. The model consists of a resin armoured hull, metal chassis, wheels, turrets and fiddly headlights.
Despite the age of the model, this is a well crafted sculpture and has captured the rather unique look of the original.
Next stage will be putting it altogether, though the headlamps look rather fiddly.
Painting Gunfighters
I have done some more work on my Old West gunfighters.
I am keeping the paint jobs relatively simple, so I can do them “quickly”, though “quickly” for me often means rather slowly…
The method is to paint the basecoats of the different aspcts of clothing, shoes, hats, guns and flesh. The models are then finished with a wash (or shade) to add shadow, tone down the basecoats and blend the colours where required.
The models were mounted on two pence pieces as bases, they have some Green Stuff added to the bases to add texture. Pieces of slate were added to some of the models.
Once the model is finished, the base is painted with Citadel Texture: Armageddon Dust. After it is drybrushed with Citadel Ushbati Bone. Finally some Citadel Mordheim Turf is added.
