Ork Flakk Wagon

I think my favourite model from GamesDay 2008 was Forge World’s Ork Flakk Wagon.

Ork Flakk Wagon

From a gaming perspective it can’t really be considered too important as I guess not too many gamers use aircraft in their games (but hey you never know).

From a model perspective it is just a conversion kit, it is not a full resin kit.

I really do like the way it looks, very Orky.

I also like it, because it means that Forge World are making more Ork stuff and I hope that this isn’t a one off, but just the start of lots of new stuff. We do have the Ork Nob Bikerz and Will showed me the Ork Warboss Bike (complete with jet engine).

So what’s going to be next?

What do you think?

GamesDay 2008 – Ork Battlewagon and Warboss Bike

Well back from an exhausting GamesDay 2008.

Posting the pictures online on the blog throughout the day seems to have worked out well, with a lot of discussion on Warseer as a result.

I also took two hundred photographs with my SLR so expect to see those in a day or two.

Saw some fantastic games, great models and still managed to miss a lot of stuff!

In the November issue of (the UK) White Dwarf you will be able to see a picture of the finished Ork Battlewagon which is been used as part of the Tale of Four Gamers.

I was going to take a photograph from the pre-production copy at GamesDay but the White Dwarf team were very insistent that I didn’t.

The model comprises (the already seen) tracks with two Trukk style wheels on each side at the front.

It looks nothing like the Forge World model.

The cab is similar to the original wheeled Battlewagon (from what 15 years ago now and used on the FW Gunwagon).

A similar looking Trukk conversion using the Battlewagon tracks in in the October WD (which was on sale at GD).

There will be either spare parts or conversion kits for the Battlewagon as well with turrets etc…

Interestingly there was no pre-production WD for December (there was at last year’s GD) and the reason I was given was “it would ruin the surprise”.

Asked if it was an Ork Stompa, no reply was given…

I also really liked Will Hayes’ Ork Boss Warbike which has a built in jet engine!

Cool!

More later on this week.

New Forge World Ork Stuff – Flakwagon

It has been rumoured and now we have a picture of the Ork Flakk Wagon or Flakwagon from Forge World.

New Forge World Ork Stuff - Flakwagon

It is based on the plastic Trukk model, I did think it may be based on the (now rather old) Forge World Gunwagon as the Forge World Epic Flakwagons are.

Looks very Orky. Looks like the back and the guns are resin, whilst the front is still plastic.

Forge World Ork Nob Bikers

Only yesterday on my blog I said:

Now if we could see more innovative Ork stuff and slightly less Imperial Guard I think I would be happier!

Well I suspect that Forge World may have been reading!!!

In their latest newsletter before GamesDay 2008 they have provided a sneak peek of some new Ork Nob bikers which will be available soon and they may even have a few at the show itself!

Looking very nice.

Forge World Ork Nob Bikers

Though at three times the price of the plastic bikers (they are £52 for three), I am thinking slightly over-priced, or are they value for money?

Also am I the only one who doesn’t like the new plastic bike bases?

Hades Breaching Drill now available on pre-order

When you have a fortified position which you absolutely, resolutely need to get through, then choose the Hades Breaching Drill.

It does what it says on the tin!

The excellent new Death Korps of Krieg Hades Breaching Drill is now available to pre-order from Forge World. A few will be available on GamesDay 2008 in Birmingham and at only £26 I suspect they will go fast, very fast…

Here are a couple of photos to remind you what it’s like.

Hades Breaching Drill

Just the thing to take out that fortified Ork stronghold that I have (not) been building.

Hades Breaching Drill

Really nice model, nice to see something different. Now if we could see more innovative Ork stuff and slightly less Imperial Guard I think I would be happier!

£18 for the Drop Pod!

Later this year we shall see a new Space Marine Codex and with the codex comes a bundle of new Space Marine miniatures out on the 4th of October.

One of the new kits will be a plastic Space Marine Drop Pod and I was pleasantly surprised to find it will only be £18 ($30).

This is based on the Forge World resin model which costs a massive £45!

You can get it “early” by buying the Space Marine Spearhead boxed set which comes out on the 20th September. I suspect they may have a few at GamesDay 2008 in Birmingham the week before.
