Ork Stompa Photos

My local Games Workshop has the new Ork Stompa on display in their window and I managed to get a couple of photographs of it.

From Games Workshop at Cribbs Causeway

It is one BIG model, much bigger than the BaneBlade.

It certainly looks the part and (as with most models) looks a lot better in the flesh than in the photographs.

They were taking pre-orders so I bought some plastic gretchin!

On the counter, not finished or painted was the new Stormlord which did look very mean and nasty, well it would with twin linked 15 dice Vulcan Mega Bolter!

Merlin on DVD

I really enjoyed BBC’s Merlin, but I can now get it on DVD.

Merlin Vol.1 [2008]

Merlin Vol.2 [2008]

Well Volume 1 is available now, Volume 2 in the next few weeks.

I know some think it was a bit “silly” and not very true to the legends of Arthur and Merlin, however my view was that the series wasn’t trying to do that it was much more about being an enjoyable TV series rather than an accurate version of the mythical legends of Arthur.

…and the new Doctor Who is…

And the new Doctor Who is…

Well…

Doctor Who

Matt Smith.

Who?

Exactly.

The eleventh Doctor has been named, and it will be played by 26 year old Matt Smith, pretty much an unknown actor.

Not sure about this. He is younger than Peter Davison, but only by a couple of years.

Well. we’re going to have to wait now until Spring 2010 to see how it works out (and work out it might).

Plastic Shadowsword (for real)

A few weeks ago back in October I said that Games Workshop would release a plastic Shadowsword. There was some scepticism on places such as Warseer, however I was happy that I had a good source.

Well in the new German White Dwarf they have a picture of the new plastic Shadowsword.

The article also says

Even though we associate the Apocalypse with the end of all things, for Warhammer 40.000 that is far from the truth – March will see plenty of new Apocalypse releases, among them a brand new super heavy tank. That is correct, the Shadowsword shown above is not a Forgeworld model, but a new plastic kit! And the best thing about it: this is only one out of six superheavy variants, that you can build with parts from the box!

There we go, so as the same source mentioned a plastic Stompa, then I know we’re going to see that too.

Why You Can’t Travel Back in Time and Kill Hitler

Nice article on the problems with time travel and travelling back in time to assassinate Hitler.

Next month sees the release of Valkyrie, a film about Claus von Stauffenberg, the man who tried to assassinate Adolph Hitler. Plenty of time travelers have had the same idea, although their plan was to kill Hitler before he enacted mass genocide. Their intentions may be noble, but the plans always seem to go awry, leaving history unchanged or even worse than when they left. We list all the ways their attempts go wrong, so you can plan your time travel accordingly.

The article that is mentioned and linked to that I enjoyed was Wikihistory by Desmond Warzel:

One of the bylaws of the International Association of Time Travelers states that you can’t kill Hitler. The problem is, everybody kills Hitler on their first trip. This leaves more experienced time travelers the onerous task of undoing the historical edits of n00bs.
