Tau Barracuda

Tau Barracuda being used in a demonstration game at GamesDay 2001.

The Tau Barracuda is used to patrol Tau airspace and support the Fire Cast in times of war. The Barracuda is capable of using groung based markerlight equipped teams to guide its supply of seeker missiles stored in its drop down bay.When the pilot is in trouble the cockpit of the Barracuda can be ejected from the main fuselage, and use its limited anti grav engine to propel the pilot to friendly lines.

Reaver Titan

On display at the Forge World Open Day 2009 was a Reaver Titan with Melta Cannon and Powerfist.

Azhag the Feral Ork

Coming soon for Warhammer Fantasy is a new Orc on Wyvern model, Azhag the Slaughterer.

Now I started thinking about how I could use this model for my Feral Ork army for Warhammer 40K. With a little conversion work and a round base I think it would make for a very nice model.

Renegade Medusa

This is Forge World’s Armoured Renegade Medusa which was on display at GamesDay 2008.

This is a very nicely painted model and is featured in the Modelling Masterclass Volume 1.

Shrine of The Aquila

There was a lot of rumours around when the Shrine of The Aquila was announced and how it would look.

I was (and I am sure others were too) disappointed with the model as it was released.

Don’t get me wrong, I think it’s a great design, but not really a shrine or a cathedral as was rumoured. So when I saw this picture on the Games Workshop website I went hmmm…

This is much more what I was expecting, much more what I was hoping to see.

At least I know now that if I do get one what else I need to buy.

Inquisitorial Stormtroopers – Tallarn

As well as my other Daemonhunters Inquisitorial Stormtroopers which are based on the Cadian Kasrkin I have also decided to add a unit based on the Tallarn or I may just use them as inducted Imperial Guard.

Having given the models a white undercoat, I then gave the models a basecoat of Desert Yellow. This was followed by a wash consisting of Chestnut Ink, Scorched Brown paint (which helps remove the gloss of the ink) and some water to thin the wash down. The models were then drybrushed with a lighter brown to extenuate the detail. The headscarves were picked out with Bleached Bone and highlighted with white paint.

I do like this model, especially the Vulcan Mega Bolter variant, it looks very mean without looking too over the top.This is another well painted model, and beautifully weathered.

Planetstrike

Managed to get a copy of Planetstrike from my local Games Workshop. When I went when it was released, alas it had sold out.

Planetstrike is a game of glorious invasions and desperate last stands set in the battle-ravaged universe of the 41st Millennium. Will you take the role of the defender, repelling the enemy’s vanguard with heavy weaponry and heavier fortifications? Or will you play the attacker, raining hellfire and damnation upon the foe before sending an army of your best troops to claim the smoking remains of his strongholds? This is truly a war on all fronts in which the enemy can appear at any time, from anywhere – especially from above!

This 80-page expansion book contains all of the rules and information you need to play games of Planetstrike; including: full rules for configuring your forces for planetary invasion, a full-colour hobby section on preparing your defences, and a comprehensive background section detailing some of the most infamous planetary assaults.

What was interesting, despite still been sold out on the Games Workshop website, my local store still had a bundle of Mines, Bombs and Booby Traps boxes (not selling well so much, as they tried to get me to buy a box).

Looking through Planetstrike, looks good and some nice pictures too.
