Purity Seals on my Grey Knights Landspeeder

Having finished most of the metal bodywork on my Grey Knights Landspeeder I went and painted the purity seals using a Foundation Paint.

It covered the black undercoat really well compared to normal Citadel colour. There are quite a few on the model, I used the resin purity seals available from Forgeworld rather than make my own. You can make your own using paper and green stuff for the seals, but the Forgeworld ones are much easier to use and I think much better than I could do.

When I was editing the photographs for this blog entry I was quite pleased with the way the metal finish appeared (in close-up) on the Landspeeder body.

Grey Knights Land Speeder – the story continues…

Painting Orks takes time, so much time that I realised it had been some time since I last mentioned my Grey Knights Landspeeder (see work done so far here).

I got it out the other day and finished off the basecoat which was done in Boltgun Metal. Basically I did the left wing and the engine compartment doors.

The next stage was to do the purity seals.

I am slowly building up my Grey Knights army (and doing even less painting).

I purchased the new Space Marine Librarian in Terminator armour as I really do like the model and for me will certainly fit into my Grey Knights army with all the books and purity seals.

Obviously at £8 it is quite expensive for a single model, but then when has Games Workshop even made “cheap” models.

Nice model and nice that all the weapon options are included.

Grey Knight Veterans

But they look like Dark Angels, honestly they are Grey Knights…

So I got a box set of Dark Angels Veterans the other day, it is my intention to use them as Grey Knights as I really like the cloaks.

The sprues are full of odd bits and pieces which will work okay with Grey Knights.

So they are not like the metal Grey Knights, but Grey Knights use a variety of old equipment, now and again I suspect they may use slightly newer kit hence being able to use the Dark Angels sprues.

Missing from the photographs is a standard Marine sprue.

Dark Angel Veterans

I am making slow progress with my Grey Knights with my Daemonhunters army, quite a bit to paint.

With both the Repressor and the Razorback I want to add purity seals and other Grey Knight paraphernalia to make them different to your run of the mill Space Marine vehicles.

The new Dark Angels “extras” sprue has some nice bits, so today I got a Dark Angels Veterans boxed set. I am intending to use the Marines as Grey Knights, I really like the cloaks.

Grey Knights Razorback

One other model I got for Christmas was a Forgeworld Razorback the one with the much bigger turret, which I much prefer over the plastic kit version that you get in the shops. As it is only £2 more now, I think the Forgeworld version is much better value for money.

Though you would get some spare weapon parts with the plastic version…

These are the extra resin pieces you get with the basic plastic Rhino kit.

This Razorback is going to be part of my Daemonhunters army.

However I hear you cry, that’s not in the Codex!

I am attempting to paint a Grey Knights force which goes beyond the listings in the DaemonHunters Codex. What I am trying to do is to create a Grey Knights force (using the Space Marine Codex) and then using a DaemonHunters force as allies.

Grey Knights MkIIb Land Raider

Grey Knights can use Land Raiders, when I first started putting this force together I knew that if I was going to get a Land Raider it would have to be the Forgeworld MkIIB Land Raider.

This is the Forgeworld display model.

I did get one in the end at GamesDay 2006.

As well as the plastic Land Raider parts you get the following resin pieces. These are the main sponsons and hull structures.

This is the rear plate and replacement exhausts.

These are the lascannon weapons.

Though you don’t get much in the way of instructions, but you do get doors.

Now I made a mistake, you get a set of doors and I (foolishly) asked them to replace the supplied eagle doors with Grey knight Land Raider doors. Now what I didn’t realise was that the side doors on the sponson are not the same size as the Land Raider doors, but are in fact the same size as Rhino side doors. So the Grey Knight doors are too big!
