One of my Christmas presents was a Grey Knight Terminator with a Psycannon.
Still in the blister…
One of the issues of being one of the slowest painters in the world is that when you eventually do paint the models, you can find that they have been replaced by newer plastic versions, which sometimes are better, sometimes not, but usually different…
This was part of the Apocalypse releases.
Having (eventually) got the model out of the blister you have a better idea of how many parts you get in there.
The next stage was putting it all together, I decided to put the whole model together as separate assemblies didn’t seem to be needed.

So the boars went together pretty easily. Though I had no tails! On the plastic boars, the tails are on the head sprue and I only ordered plastic boar bodies. Ah well out with the Green Stuff!
I then made up the riders using the same process as my other Boar Boyz.

Liking my first two Ork Boar Boyz and working on a third, I decided I would model two more riders in a similar style to my other Boar Boyz. The first part of the rider model is the boar rider legs from the Warhammer Fantasy Orc Warriors sprue, though any Orc Boar Rider legs should work.
Unlike my other three Boars, for these models I also ordered some metal Cyboar heads from the old Snakebitez bitz range – this was before Games Workshop rationalised their online bitz store.
This is my favourite which has a lot of armour plates and cybernetics.
You can see how big the heads are compared to the plastic boar bodies.
Again like the other head, enhanced with cybernetics.
Next stage is to glue all the bitz together.

One of the things I liked about Cities of Death was the large Ork “town” which was there alongside the ruined Imperial Cities. I know I will never have the time, space or resources to make something similar, but I did like the concept and thought it would be nice to have some buildings for my Ork Airfield, well at least something that could be used alongside my Ork Bommer.
So I took an old DVD-R spindle tub I had, these are available in various sizes depending on how many disks there are, I used a 25 disk tub.
Once you have finished with the disks, you do have the basis for a good building. They come in various sizes as well, 25, 50, 100, therefore you can have different heights as well.
The first thing I did was cut up some plasticard, wooden sticks and Starbucks™ wooden stirrers into similar lengths. I also delved into my bitz box to get some parts, in the main from Imperial vehicles, ie Rhino and Land Raider doors.
Using strips of wood, Starbucks™ stirrers, plasticard, bitz from Imperial vehicles, I stuck them to the side.
Then using a hot glue gun I stuck these to the side of the DVD tub. A hot glue gun is perfect for this kind of thing, as both plastic and super glues are unsuitable for this kind of model.
When I thought about the floor of the fort, I did initially think about adding a series of wooden planks or metal sheets, however in the end I went with using modelling sand, which I think will look quite effective when painted and somewhat Orky.
The next stage was to add rivets using cut plastic rod and plastic sprue. I used both strips of plastic rod and hexagonal rod. Using the hexagonal rod to make nuts and bolts.
These were also added to the Imperial scrap as well.

Having worked a lot of my Grey Knights Land Speeder, one of the key components is the replacement crew. Here is the finished crew in situ.
I could have used the included plastic Space Marine crew, but in the end I used some metal Grey Knights models. I started with a black basecoat and then gave the armour a basecoat of Boltgun Metal. This was followed with the gold metal parts been given a base coat of Brazen Brass.
After painting the base coats for the purity seals and other iconology on the Grey Knights, I gave the purity seals a top coat of Bleached Bone and highlighted with white paint. I then added text and writing using a fine brush and thinned black paint.
I then cut the legs off…
Placing the crew in the Land Speeder gives an idea of the final effect I am trying to achieve.

I have added more of the Repressor basecoat.
I used the Citadel Foundation Paint, Tausept Ochre.
At this point the Dozer Blade is not attached and will be glued on once the model has been painted fully.

Having done some of my Grey Knights Razorback basecoat I did some more. Mainly the top Lascannon weaponry.
The next stage will be adding more of the basecoat.

Having started painting the Grot Bomb I drybrushed the launch, first with Tin Bitz and then with Boltgun Metal.
I also gave the bike part of the Wartrakk a basecoat of Tausept Ochre.

I am continuing to work on my Ork Aircraft Traktor and having undercoated the launch trolley with a black undercoat I went to work on painting it.
I gave the plane carrying trailer/launcher a drybrush of Tin Bitz. I then gave the model a heavy drybrush of Boltgun Metal. I then added a lot of rust using Chestnut Ink mixed with some Blazing Orange to remove the gloss from the ink.
The Ork Fighter Bommer sits on this trolley.
