Epic Ork Lungbursta

The Lungbursta is one of my favourite Epic Ork vehicles.

There is something very *normal* about it which I like compared to other Ork vehicles.

I found I had some spare models and I am painting them up in desert colours to match my current Epic painting.

The first stage is painting the metal parts in black.

The next stage will be painting the basecoat.

Ork Squig Capturing Vehicles

I have often used the gunners from Ork Buggies in many conversions.

This is an Ork Flagwagon with Gunners.

This of course leaves the warbuggies…

One conversion I started was based on the vehicles from Jurassic Park II which were used to capture dinosaurs. I saw these vehicles as squig capturing buggies, the squigs would then be used either in small packs, to grow into Squiggoths or for food.

The conversion used the arm from an Ork Dreadnought which was snipped off to make a Killa Kan.

Sleazy Rider

This limited edition from Citadel in the 1980s became very rare as they withdrew it very quickly from sale.

Sleazy Rider

I painted the fuel tank in Soviet colours as the painted model in White Dwarf at the time had its fuel tank painted with the stars and stripes and I didn’t think I could get the lines straight.

Sleazy Rider

It is probably now one of my favourite models of all time and I now wish I had not sold it on eBay a few years back…

It should be noted that this was in fact a fantasy model and pre Warhammer 40K…hence the wooden wheel, though the back wheel was from a Judge Dredd model.

Epic Forgeworld Ork Gunwagons

The beauty of Orks is that there is no need for consistency and sometimes a mistake turns out really well.

I painted one of the Gunwagons in Bleached Bone, expecting the dark wash to add a nice touch, however it contained too much Chestnut ink so it looked awful wet. However when it dried it just looked great, really rusty.

Epic Ork Bommerz

Made quite a bit of progress on these lovely models… Well after doing the metal parts I have spent a bit of time on my Forgeworld Ork Bommerz.

The first thing I did was to do the bases, which starts of as a simple flying base, I stuck a small rock and GW’s sand mix, before painting Bestial Brown and drybrushing with Bleached Bone.

I wanted to go for the orange/brown look of the FW 40K model.

Though I don’t think I will go for the checks or the flame effects which I think wouldn’t work in this scale (painted by me they wouldn’t).

I first painted the underneath in Vomit Brown.

Epic Ork Bommerz

This meant that I could avoid getting paint on the black metal work.

Epic Ork Bommerz

After painting the complete model in Vomit Brown, I painted the bomb loads in Bestial Brown after thinking that black would be too harsh. I then gave the model a wash. In the following picture the washed model is still wet!

Once the model was completely painted in Vomit Brown I then washed the model with a wash of Chestnut Ink, Scorched Brown and water.

Epic Ork Bommerz

As you can see one model is darker than the other, but I don’t think Orks are that uniform.

I still need to do add some more detailing.

The detail on these models is amazing.

Latest Game

One of the disadvantages of playing a 1500pt game on a small table…

Game of Warhammer 40K

…is that it gets rather crowded.

Played Take and Hold and it was very close, but in the end my Orks just managed to win.

Highlights of the game: a Medusa taking out a unit of Burnaboyz in just one shot; the battery of Big Gunz actually hitting something (they have been practicing).

Deth Koptas

Here is a flight of Deth Koptas from a recent game.

They performed well, though my opponent was somewhat confused over what they were. Were they vehicles or were they infantry.

Bikes can be confusing even more so when they are akin to Jetbikes like the Deth Koptas.

No real solution, but I may be tempted to use them as Wartrakks rather then Warbikes.
