Battlewagon’esqe Ork Abode

One of the highlights of GamesDay 2009 for me was the fantastic Ork Shanty Town display that Forge World did.

The more you looked at the model the more you saw. There was some lovely little touches such as this old Battlewagon that has been converted into some Ork’s little large abode.

For some of the diorama they made wall and roof sections and then cast multiple copies in resin. I hope one day that they do this and sell it. I would buy some, would you?

Thunderbolt Dispersal

This wonderful Thunderbolt diorama was on display at the Forge World Open Day.

If it reminds you of Dave Andrews’ classic Thunderbolt diorama then you wouldn’t be too far wrong, it inspired the diorama above.

There is lots of lovely detail in the model.

Squiggoth

My Ork Squiggoth moving forward. This photograph was taken on my unfinished desert terrain boards, which as a result are a dark purple-red colour.

This is the Forge World model and is armed with a Forge World Kannon. I have been seriously thinking about getting another one, you can never have too much Heavy Support. I really ought to also finish off the howdah with some Ork krew and some grots hanging on.

You can see how I painted it in my workbench feature on the model.

Of course the rules for this model are not in the standard rules or the Ork Codex.

I use to use the Forge World supplements, but more recently I have been using the rules from Apocalypse.

Blight Drones of Nurgle

A new(ish) miniature on display at the Forge World Open Day last April were these appropriately disgusting Blight Drones of Nurgle.

A Daemon manifesting as a machine, these formidable daemon engines of the Plague God poison and corrupt the battlefield.

Though not a Chaos player I do think Forge World, well Daren Parrwood, has designed a wonderful model here. Very unique and clever.

Ork Nob Warbike

On display at GamesDay 2008 were Forge World’s Ork Nob Warbikers. This is one of the three that make up the £50.90 set.

Now I do like the model in the photograph, however I was less of a fan of the others in the set. Now I do buy Forge World models, but at £50.90 I think that the set is a little overpriced; hey even the plastic Ork Warbiker Mob at £22.50 is in my opinion not that good value for money!

From a gaming perspective, the Ork Warbiker is a mean unit, how do I know, I have a unit of Deffkoptaz.

Thinking about getting the new Ork Mega-Force from Games Workshop which comes with nine Warbikes. Still won’t get the resin Nob Bikers from Forge World though.

How many visitors…

As I did last year I posted photographs live from GamesDay 2009 to this blog. One impact is a huge rise in visitor numbers on the day and the following few days after the event.

Of course the interest doesn’t last for ever and after a while the visits drop to their pre-GamesDay levels as you can see from the graph.

stats0909

Of course one of the reasons for the huge spike is that everyone out there is interested in what new and exciting stuff is been seen for the first time at GamesDay. This year there was less new stuff than previous years so very little exciting stuff to photo and upload. I did though upload a fair few photographs, in the main of the fantastic Ork Shanty Town from Forge World.

I do hope that those visitors who enjoyed my GamesDay coverage will continue to visit the site and enjoy the many photographs I post and details of what I am working on, on my workbench.

Cities of Death

This is from a game we had.

The scenery is a mix of Cityfight, the gothic ruins and Forge World. Mixed in there are some Forge World barricades and Warhammer 40K barbed wire.

Yes there in the middle is an unexploded Grot Bomb with probably one very confused, but very lucky grot.

Imperial Guard Shadowsword

Before the plastic Shadowsword was released this year, Forge World had their resin version.

This model was entered into the Golden Demon awards at GamesDay 2005.
