The Daleks are poised to do battle in New York in a forthcoming episode from the latest series of Doctor Who.

The two-parter will see the show’s star David Tennant and new assistant Martha Jones, played by Freema Agyeman, face their famous foes in 1930s Manhattan.

Dead Dalek

Dead Dalek at Doctor Who Exhibition, well not so much dead rather just old and battered…

This is one of the original Daleks from the original series of Doctor Who.

Dead Dalek at Doctor Who Exhibition

As you can see time has not been kind and it is rather battered and worse for wear.

This old Dalek was seen at the Doctor Who Exhibition on Brighton pier.

This prop actually seems to be made from two different Dalek models.

The bottom half is from the first half of the Dalek episode when the Dalek is chained up, it is only after the contact with Rose that it tidies itself up and later we get to see the inside.

Quite an impressive prop and again looks really good close-up.

I thought that they did a very good job on the new Daleks and I really like the design.

Guardian says in reference to Daleks, “This time they can fly…”

Well with Doctor Who back on the telly tonight (yeah), The Guardian on the front of their weekly Guide have a couple of Daleks with the byline This time they can fly…

The Daily Mirror back in October also mentioned how the Daleks can now fly!

Well this is where I turn into a real Doctor Who anorak…

Remembrance Of The Daleks As anyone who has seen Remembrance of the Daleks (from the Sylvester McCoy era) will know that Daleks could fly upstairs and was used to great effect in the first episode cliffhanger.

The Doctor runs up the stairs to escape a Dalek only to find the Dalek could now fly up the stairs…

So Daleks have been able to fly since 1988 (or should that be 1963 as that is when the episode is set).

All you really need to know is that Doctor Who is back on BBC 1 tonight at 7pm and there is also a behind the scenes programme straight afterwards on BBC THREE.
