Falchion Super-Heavy Tank Destroyer

The Falchion Super-Heavy Tank Destroyer is a formidable piece of war machinery employed by the Legiones Astartes in the world of the Horus Heresy.

This behemoth of a vehicle is designed to obliterate enemy tanks and fortifications with its devastating firepower. Its twin volcano cannons, capable of unleashing a torrent of superheated plasma, can melt through the thickest armor. The Falchion is heavily armored, making it resistant to enemy fire. In addition to its main armament, it is equipped with a variety of auxiliary weapons, such as heavy bolters and lascannons, for engaging infantry and lighter targets. The Falchion is significantly larger than most other tanks, making it a fearsome sight on the battlefield. Its sheer size and firepower make it a formidable asset to any Space Marine force.

The Falchion is based on the same Standard Template Construct pattern as Baneblade super-heavy tanks, equipped with advanced weapon and armour systems befitting the Legiones Astartes.

Rohan Stronghold

Under the orders of Saruman, the forces of Isengard have begun their assault on the Kingdom of Rohan. Bands of ruthless Uruk-hai and vengeful Dunlendings have not just come to raid villages and destroy farms, but also to eliminate the people of Rohan. With the Westfold in flames, the Legion of the White Hand turn their attentions to the strongholds of Rohan. Yet these strongholds are well defended and the Rohirrim inside are ready to face overwhelming odds and defend their walls against the onslaught of Uruk-hai and Evil Men that now bear down upon them.

War has come to Rohan…

Typhon Heavy Siege Tank

Sons of Horus Typhon Heavy Siege Tank

Named for the ‘Great Beast’ of Ancient Terran myth, the immense Typhon Heavy Siege Tank was developed by the Mechanicum alongside the Spartan, with which it shares a basic chassis design.

World Eaters Typhon Heavy Siege Tank

The Typhon’s primary armament is the massive Dreadhammer cannon, and was created in response to a request from the Primarch Peturabo, master of the Iron Warriors. He demanded a Legiones Astartes war engine that could rival the great batteries of the Imperial Crusade Army in firepower, but manoeuvre and deploy at the speed of a Space Marine force.

Although the Typhon fell out of use in the aftermath of the Horus Heresy, its design and technology have influenced the development of later Imperial vehicles. The Typhon’s legacy can be seen in the heavy tanks and siege weapons used by the Adeptus Mechanicus and other Imperial factions.

I have the plastic kit version of the Typhon Heavy Siege Tank on my workbench.

Sons of Horus Spartan Assault Tank

These Sons of Horus Spartan Assault Tanks were on display at Warhammer World.

The Spartan Assault Tank, often referred to as the Land Raider Spartan, is a formidable armoured vehicle designed to breach the most impenetrable enemy defences and deliver devastating blows with its payload of Legion Astartes infantry. Its nigh-impervious hull, capable of shrugging off even the most potent anti-tank weaponry, makes it a truly formidable war machine.

During the Great Crusade, the Spartan became an indispensable asset for the Legion Astartes. Its immense firepower and exceptional durability allowed it to lead the charge into the heart of enemy territory, paving the way for Legionaries to storm enemy fortifications. With a capacity to transport up to 26 Legionaries or 13 Terminators, the Spartan provided a mobile, armoured fortress that could be deployed rapidly to any sector of the battlefield.

Despite its massive size, the Spartan possesses a surprising degree of agility, enabling it to manoeuvre effectively in tight spaces and avoid enemy fire. Its combination of speed, firepower, and protection makes it a truly versatile and devastating weapon, capable of turning the tide of battle in favour of the Legion Astartes forces using it.

Deimos Pattern Whirlwind Scorpius

An ancient variant of the more common Whirlwind missile tank, the Scorpius was designed with a single purpose in mind – the destruction of heavily armoured infantry.

The Scorpius variant replaces the Whirlwind’s multiple missile launcher system with the intricate drum-fed scorpius launcher, whose implosive warheads are devastating to armoured infantry and light vehicles.

The Whirlwind Scorpius’ origins lie in the dark days of the first inter-Legion civil war and, in more recent times, it has become an all but forgotten relic amongst some Chapters as the ability to manufacture its complex munitions has become a forgotten art, but for other Chapters it still remains a potent weapon of war.

After heavy fighting, the garrison under Faramir and his troops were forced to flee, first to the Rammas Echor, which held out for a day and then to Minas Tirith itself.
