I really enjoyed the original series of the X-Files there was something at the time fresh and different about the series and of course the relationship between Mulder and Scully really made a difference.
The X-Files is an American science fiction horror drama television series created by Chris Carter. The program originally aired from September 10, 1993, to May 19, 2002, on Fox, spanning nine seasons and 202 episodes. The series revolves around FBI special agents Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) and Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) investigating X-Files: marginalized, unsolved cases involving paranormal phenomena.
I am currently re-watching the original as it is on Amazon Prime, but you can get the DVD boxed set for a reasonable price too.
Back in the 1990s I started developed a skirmish set of rules, entitled FEDS, the inspiration for which was the X-Files. The idea of FBI Swat teams fighting down bad guys and monsters seemed like a good idea for lots of fun games.
Looking forward to the new series, though not sure where I will be able to watch it.

British Cromwell tank moves along a French road in the face of a German defensive line.
Overall the Cromwell was a welcome addition to the British, but as with many allied tanks, they were under armoured and under-gunned when faced with the German tanks of the same time period. Where the allies won out was in sheer numbers and probably more importantly logistics.
Slow and heavy, but with much better armour the Churchill was a different tank to the faster Cromwell. Probably remembered more for the variants and “funnies” that used the tank as a base vehicle.
Okay not a tank, but an M5 Half Track disembarking infantry to support the tanks in the bocage.
Overall a great looking game and some nice models.

The German forces were withdrawing in the face of a British attack.
This series based on the book of the same name, is set in a universe where Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan defeated the allies and occupied the United States of America dividing it in to two, the Greater Nazi Reich covers the Eastern half of the United States, the Japanese Pacific States is on the Western seaboard. In between these two occupied areas is a neutral zone, which acts as a buffer between the two superpowers.
In many ways very little has changed in this neutral zone, there are still US propaganda posters on the walls of buildings.
It also a place where those wanted and on the run can hide. However it is also a lawless place where anyone can pretend to be a lawmaker.
The series is set in 1962, however feels much more like the 1950s, suggesting a cultural stagnation that would have occurred under totalitarian occupation.
The series has a range of opportunities for gaming, in the main skirmish gaming between small forces of regular and irregular squads.
As the American resistance tries to attack a convoy of occupying soldiers in an ambush, the regular forces fight back and try to escape the ambush.
A smuggling operation by the Mafia in New York (or the Yakuza in San Francisco) is busted by the local police supported by regular troops.
There is a cold war between the Germans and the Japanese and there could be border skirmishes between regular forces in the rocky mountains of the neutral zone.
A self-proclaimed sheriff and his deputies in the neutral zone attempt to raid a fortified farm.
Very little information is provided on the military forces, we see light vehicles, but no armour. The Germans have “rocket” planes and supersonic airliners, but not much else is seen in terms of hardware.
We can assume that there ballistic rockets and it is mentioned that Germany has the atomic bomb, characters in the series talk about how Washington DC was destroyed by a nuclear weapon. One potential scenario could be a skirmish between different forces in the radioactive ruins of Washington DC.

There is even a 30 day free trial and you could use them to check out the ten episodes. I am certainly looking forward to the second series, which is due to be released in 2016 (this may mean that I actually take out an Amazon Prime subscription).
The clunking behemoths of steel slowly trundled through the mud and despair of no-man’s land followed by apprehensive and scared men who had seen years of fighting and death.
These models were part of a 54mm World War One demonstration game at Warfare 2015 in Reading. Visually impressive, the table also had an extensive trench system terrain.
Games Workshop will launch a new ‘Specialist Games’ studio to bring classic board games including Blood Bowl back from the dead.
They quote Games Workshop
“Our all-new Specialist Design Studio will even be tasked with bringing back and re-vamping some of our old favourites. Blood Bowl, Epic, Necromunda and Battlefield Gothic are just some of the great games the team are already eyeing up,”
It looks more than likely that we might see the return of Epic into the family of Games Workshop games. This is an interesting move from GW, who closed down the previous incarnation of Specialist Games in 2009 after creating it back in 2002. During that time we saw many new releases for Epic and other games, including the infamous fantasy football game, Bloodbowl.
