Happy Christmas to all our readers.
This is one of the original Citadel Limited Editions from the 1980s.
The Ork Sqwadron Commander is a really nice model (only available as a show model from Forge World).
I used Citadel sand to base the model.
I do like Citadel sand as it has small rocks included which add interest to the base.
See the full workbench feature on the Ork Sqwadron Commander.
Here is my Ork Sqwadron Commander, which I have assembled. Some minor cleaning and it went together very easily.
It is a really nice model.
I would like to build him an airfield, hangars, flak guns, meks… but in the end he will need to make do with just my Ork Bommer.
At GamesDay 2007 I got one of the show only limited edition miniatures, the Ork Sqwadron Commander.
A very nice casting which comprises three pieces.
You get the main body and two arms, this is the rear view.
It is a really nice casting and I am looking forward to painting it.
Workbench feature on the Ork Sqwadron Commander for future updates.
One of the display cabinets at Warhammer World which I enjoyed looking at was the archive cabinet.
Here are two original Citadel Miniatures, the Chainsaw Warrior (from the boardgame of the same name) and an original Space Marine in Power Armour.
I have quite a few pictures of these and other limited editions on my web site.
I have always felt that if I pay £25 for a ticket into GamesDay I should get at least one miniature free.
Back in the good old days I do remember getting a goody bag, one which sticks in my mind contained a free Kroot sprue.
Now I know I could queue for (what seems like an age) and try one of the modelling stands and get some free plastic miniatures, but this year the queues were horrendous, last year I made a tree stand.
Every year (for a fair few years now) Games Workshop have released a limited edition Games Day miniature which is an additional cost to the price of the ticket.
By the way does it count as a limited edition if you can buy last years limited edition at this year’s show at a discount!
This year’s limited edition was an orc and a goblin, and yes I did buy it.
I am intending to use it with my feral orks, looks like a nice model.
This limited edition from Citadel in the 1980s became very rare as they withdrew it very quickly from sale.
I painted the fuel tank in Soviet colours as the painted model in White Dwarf at the time had its fuel tank painted with the stars and stripes and I didn’t think I could get the lines straight.
It is probably now one of my favourite models of all time and I now wish I had not sold it on eBay a few years back…
It should be noted that this was in fact a fantasy model and pre Warhammer 40K…hence the wooden wheel, though the back wheel was from a Judge Dredd model.
At the beginning of March I mentioned that GW were releasing a limited edition Witch Hunter model that would only be sold in the stores on the 2nd and 3rd April.
Well I didn’t think I was going to get one, but I was on my way over to Simon’s for a game of Space Hulk and stopped off at the GW store and picked one up.
It is a very nice model and is based on the Witch Hunter model that is available in the boxed set, but has a different weapon (plasma pistol) and is pointing rather than holding a sword.
Personally I think it is a better model.
Now do I paint it, or do I keep it and sell it on eBay in a few years time (or does everyone do that).
Rules are in White Dwarf #304.
….only available on the 2nd and 3rd April in the UK and Northern Europe…
Games Workshop are releasing a limited edition 40K scale Inquisitor model to celebrate 30 years of Games Workshop (and it only seems like yesterday was the 25th anniversary).
I quite like the figure and if I have a chance I am going to try and get one.
It is only available in stores in the UK (and Northern Europe) on the 2nd and 3rd April.
