Forge World Open Day 2009

Forge World will be holding it`s annual Open Day at Warhammer World in Nottingham on Sunday the 5th of April. Admission to this event as usual is free on the door. Always a popular day out, we will have our sales stand with a good selection of our stock and our full studio team will be on hand to show off sneak peeks of what we have in store for the future, and be available to answer (nearly) all of your questions.

We will also be previewing Imperial Armour Volume Seven – The Siege of Vraks Part 3, showing off some previously unseen models for Orks and Chaos and putting on some exciting participation games. It will be also your first chance to get your hands on this year’s new show only model, but as to just what that new model will be, we`ll have to keep you in suspense about for now! There`ll be a painting competition for you to bring your Forge World models to, where a trophy will be awarded to the best in show, and skill and interest, rather than size, will win the day. (More details on this will be available on the website shortly). We`ll also be having our usual charity raffle to win a titan, and this year it`ll be a big one!

If you are planning to attend the Open Day, you can also place a reservation order with us to pick up and pay for at the show, either by giving us a call on 0115 916 8177 or by sending us an email with details of your name and what you are after to fwreservations@games-workshop.co.uk Your reservation must reach us by the 27th of March.

Nurgle Daemon Prince and Herald

Our new release for this Newsletter is a Daemon Prince and Daemonic Herald of Nurgle, available to pre-order now for release the week commencing the 23rd of March. Designed by Mark Bedford these two models which are sold together can be viewed in more detail Here.

This bloated mound of putrescent flesh represents a particular horror whose history and rules will be presented in our forthcoming Imperial Armour Volume Seven: The Siege of Vraks Part 3, but can also be used to represent your own Daemon princes, Greater Daemons or offer an alternative Great Unclean One, (see Codex Chaos Space Marines and Codex Daemons). The Daemonic Herald of Nurgle, a distorted, slug-like figure with rusted augmetics can also easily be used in a variety of roles such as a Chaos Sorcerer or Nurgle spawn.

Salute 2009

Our first event of the New Year Forge World will be attending the Salute games show at the London Excel Centre on Saturday 28th March, where we will have a selection of our models available to buy. You can also place a reservation order to pick up and pay for on the day, either by giving us a ring or sending us an email to fwreservations@games-workshop.co.uk before Friday the 13th of March.

Forge World Chaos Brass Scorpion

Forge World have released their most recent newsletter, Forge World Newsletter #209 which has details of the rather nice Chaos Brass Scorpion. Details of new rules will be in the third Siege of Vraks book due this year.

Forge World must have scorpions on the brain this month, as there are also releases for the Red Scorpions Space Marine Chapter.

Hello There,

Even though winter grips us with an icy hand here at Forge World, it hasn`t stopped us getting your orders out, and this newsletter we have something extraordinary for you in the shape of our Chaos Brass Scorpion of Khorne.

As well as this great new model, we have some requested heavy re-enforcement options for the Red Scorpions and our first event of the year.

Thanks
Alan Bligh

Chaos Brass Scorpion of Khorne

The Brass Scorpion is a terrifying daemonic engine of destruction dedicated to the Chaos God Khorne, Lord of Slaughter. This nightmarish construct, as much hell-spawned beast as war machine, it storms across the battlefield like a monstrous predator hunting and killing. Its huge claws are capable of shredding armour with ease and its firepower laying waste to swathes of enemy infantry. Even in destruction the foes of Chaos have learned to fear this unholy war machine, as its infernally-charged reactor erupts to scorch the battlefield with the fury of its death-throws.

The Brass Scorpion of Khorne is a fantastically impressive resin model designed by Daren Parrwood, and both an assembled example and a version painted by Mark Bedford can be seen pictured Here. The models has some superb details such as the tangled web of cabling and writhing bodies beneath its angled armour plating, and it can be built in a variety of poses. There is also a 360 degree view of the painted Brass Scorpion here.

A super-heavy war machine, rules for the Brass Scorpion of Khorne can be found in Warhammer 40,000 Apocalypse available from Games Workshop, and it will also be included as a new variant in our forthcoming book Imperial Armour Volume Seven: The Siege of Vraks Part 3.

The Chaos Brass Scorpion of Khorne is available to pre-order now for release the week commencing the 23rd of February.

Red Scorpions Thunderhawks and Pre-Heresy Land Raider

With the recent release of our Red Scorpions chapter-specific Rhino and Land Raider doors, we are now able to offer our existing Warhammer 40,000 scale Pre-Heresy Land Raider, Thunderhawk Gunship, Thunderhawk Transporter with Rhinos and Thunderhawk Transporter with Land Raider with Red Scorpions chapter-specific iconography. So if you are a Red Scorpions Space Marines player looking for add some heavy firepower to your Apocalypse games, or make sure your armoured support arrives on time, a Thunderhawk can serve as a fantastic reminder for your opponent why the Space Marines are also known as the Angels of Death.

These Red Scorpion models are available to pre-order now for release the week commencing the 23rd of February.

Salute 2009

Our first event of the New Year, Forge World will be attending the Salute games show at the London Excel Centre on Saturday 28th March, were we will have a selection of our models. You can also place a reservation order to pick up and pay for on the day, either by giving us a ring or sending us an email to fwreservations@games-workshop.co.uk before Friday the 13th of March.

I seem to be in the minority as I really quite like this model, and if you read this blog I am not a fan of Chaos one bit!

Forge World Newsletter #191

Another Forge World Newsletter this time with some new Chaos stuff…

Hello There,
It’s been some time since our last newsletter, and we have been incredibly busy here at Forge World in the interim, both in keeping up with the unprecedented amount of orders we’ve been getting and in preparing for the future release Imperial Armour Volume 6. If you are still waiting on an order, don`t worry, we will get your models out to you as soon as we can, and for those of you we have left craving new releases, we have some fantastic ones to announce in this newsletter in the shape of our Death Guard Terminator and Marine Conversion Kits, and our new Death Korps of Krieg Equipment & Upgrade sets.
Thanks
Alan Bligh

The Battle for Vraks Continues…
Imperial Armour Volume 6: The Siege of Vraks Part 2 will see a massive escalation in the brutal war between the loyalist Imperial forces and the renegades led by the treacherous Cardinal Xaphan. Of course, this means we will be producing an expanding range of new Chaos and Imperial releases to help you fight your own battles for Vraks or simply add some cool new models to your own collection.

The Lords of Decay

The first new re-enforcements for the traitors of Vraks are from the dreaded Death Guard Chaos Space Marine Legion. We have two new beautifully vile and suppurating conversion sets for these Plague Marines, both designed by Mark Bedford. Firstly we have our Death Guard Marines Conversion set which requires the use of the plastic Chaos Space Marine boxed set, and builds ten Death Guard Marines. Although intended to represent the Plague Marines of the Death Guard, you could also use them to help create your own legions of decay, Nurgle-marked Chaos Marine Havocs, or even Nurgle-marked Raptors and the like. The Death Guard Terminator Conversion set in conjunction with the Chaos Terminator boxed set, goes to make up five Death Guard Terminators, and of course can also be used to furnish your Nurgle-marked Chaos Space Marine characters and Nurgle-marked Terminators for other renegade forces.

As you can see from the pictures these are wonderfully detailed models that really bring the decaying ruin of the Death Guard to unholy life, and you`ll see more Chaos models and further re-enforcements for the Renegades in the coming months.

Death Korps of Krieg Upgrade Sets

We also have some new and much-requested additions for our Death Korps of Krieg range in the shape of three Equipment upgrade sets, designed by Will Hayes and Simon Egan. These sets feature extra weapons and equipment in the patterns and styles used by the Death Korps. The first, the Death Korps of Krieg Weapons set contains five lasguns and two each of the grenade launcher, melta gun and flamer (one of each set with arms, and one unattached). The Death Korps of Krieg Equipment set features vox casters, ammunition, bayonets, demo charges and grenades, while the Death Korps of Krieg Command Upgrade set is made up of extra plasma and las pistols and chain and power swords, and weapon arms, as well as a set of five extra command shoulder plates to expand your command units.

As with the Renegades and followers of Chaos, the Imperium will also see an expansion in the forces fighting on Vraks, so you can look forward to more models for the Death Korps as well as some new forces becoming involved in the spiralling war we have yet to reveal!

Imperial Armour Volume 5 Q & A

Also up on the Forge World website is a new Q & A document compiled by Warwick Kinrade for Imperial Armour Volume 5, which you can find Here.
