Epic Deathstrike Missile Launcher

One of the nice models from the Epic 40,000 era was the Deathstrike Missile Launcher.

This one shot super weapon was often at the heart of many an Imperial Guard Artillery Battery. This model is from Simon’s collection.

Unlike a lot of Imperial Guard Epic vehicles this one has never been made into a 40K version by Forge World, though this has not stopped others from scratch-building their own.

With Apocalypse I wonder if we will now see a Forge World version?

This model is from the Epic 40000 era and is very well detailed.

I like the model for the amount of additions such as the gun sleeve, crew equipment and camo netting. Most of the Epic 40000 models had such additions. The current Epic Armageddon models are much “cleaner” and have virtually no extra “stuff” on them, which in my opinion is a pity.

I was quite pleased with the paint job on this model, though due to the ink wash it is a bit glossy for my liking.

Capitol Imperialis at the Tank Factory

Back at GamesDay 2001, Carl from Dropship, which alas has not been updated for many years now, put on a most excellent Epic demonstration game with some fantastic models and some fantastic scenery.

One of the key scenery pieces for me was the freight yard, railway track and one of the nice Forge World Tank Factories (which is sadly now long longer available).

In that shot you can also see the very nice (and also not available) Capitol Imperalis.

Sadly this model was never re-released nor was it re-imagined when Epic Armageddon came around (and went again).

I have seen what some people have done on the web, but I do wonder now and again if Forge World will ever release either an Epic or a 40K version or something similar.

Epic Baneblade Super Heavy Tank

Though we now have the new plastic kit of the Imperial Guard Baneblade it was the Epic version which inspired the resin Forge World model and now the new plastic kit.

This is the Epic 40000 version which is now ten years old.

Though of course there were earlier versions for the previous version of the Epic rules, Space Marine.

Epic Imperial Guard Manticore

I have always liked the (Epic 40,000) Imperial Guard Manticore model. It is something about those large missiles which makes this look like an artillery piece which means business.

I was always disappointed as a result with the Forgeworld version which looks less like an artillery piece and more like an anti-aircraft weapon or a much lighter artillery piece.

Thinking about it, I wonder if I could (or should) build a 40K scale version?
