More photographs of the model.

Nice model of the Tardis, which I think works well.

Tardis

Still don’t really like the Daleks.

Nice Weeping Angel, I don’t think that the Peter Capaldi doctor has actually seen a Weeping Angel, but I may be wrong.

Lego Doctor Who

Looks like we will have Lego Doctor Who… very soon! This is the first official image of the new Doctor Who Lego.

Update: We now have the Tardis console as well….

Tardis Console

This was a Lego Ideas submission which was approved to be a real product.

Lego Doctor Who

We already have Lego Dimensions Doctor Who as we found out in July. This is the video from that announcement.

It looks like from the video that you will be able to play all thirteen doctors in the game. In addition there are Daleks and Cybermen.

Looking for Daleks

So the BBC have released a new trailer for Doctor Who and there are a couple of shots of Daleks within it.

Now if you look carefully, not only can you see the Special Weapon Dalek, but there are also early era Daleks like those encountered by the first Doctor.

The Special Weapon Dalek was first seen in the classic Sylvester McCoy story, Remembrance of the Daleks.

Another view from Remembrance of the Daleks.

This new shot is not the only time it has appeared, it was also seen in Asylum of the Daleks.

So not long now until the new series of Doctor Who. Are you looking forward to it?

Doctor Who in Lego

Well what do we have here, the Doctor in Lego.

Doctor Who in Lego

Oh and K9 and a TARDIS.

Okay so not a proper set (just yet), but for the forthcoming Lego Dimensions console game.

The game uses “real” Lego which are then “brought” into the game. There is a real mix of brands, for example the starter set has Batman, Gandalf and Wyldstyle (from The Lego Movie).

You can expand the game with packs and these have so far included figures from the Lego franchises such as Ninjago, but also Wonder Woman, Lord of the Rings, Wizard of Oz and Back to the Future.

With the release of some instructions, we now know that there will also be an expansion pack for Doctor Who.

The copyright notice for Doctor Who is quite interesting as it includes details of Daleks and Cybermen.

BBC logo © BBC 1996. Doctor Who logo © BBC 2009. Dalek image © BBC/ Terry Nation 1963. Cyberman image © BBC/Kit Pedler/Gerry Davis 1966. K-9 image © BBC/Bob Baker/Dave Martin 1977. Licensed by BBC Worldwide Limited.

From this I would ascertain that we will see Lego Daleks and Cybermen, very likely in the game, but could mean Lego Daleks if and when more Doctor Who Lego is released.  The BBC does not hold all the rights to all the Doctor Who monsters, therefore licensed products need to both licence Doctor Who from the BBC, but also need to licence Terry Nation (estate) for the Daleks.

In addition to Doctor Who we have also seen packs for Jurassic World, Scooby Doo, Portal and The Simpsons.

Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart of UNIT

Here is another of the metal miniatures from Harlequin Miniatures. This is Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart of UNIT. Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart was one of the founders of UNIT and commander of its UK operations.

I painted his uniform with Flames of War English Uniform 921.

Alistair Gordon Lethbridge-Stewart was born in Scotland, according to dialogue in Terror of the Zygons. He first encounters the Second Doctor in The Web of Fear (1968), when Lethbridge-Stewart is a lieutenant colonel commanding a British Army detachment sent to investigate the Yeti in the London Underground. By his next appearance in The Invasion (1968), he had been promoted to Brigadier and was working with UNIT. When the Doctor was forcibly regenerated and exiled to Earth, Lethbridge-Stewart gave him a position as UNIT’s scientific advisor after he helped defeat the Auton invasion.
