Grot Bomb Launcha

I do like the Grot Bomb Launcha and my first (and so far only completed) model often takes part in my games as part of my Ork force. In this photograph (with my Skorcha behind it) it has already shot its Grot Bomb.

More often than not though, it does not really do anything significant, even with our house rule which allows it to reload!

Grot Bomb Launcha

I am in the process of painting my third Grot Bomb Launcha. This will take me to a battery of three of them. So far one is fully painted, the other on it’s way.

With the third one I have given the model an undercoat. Some parts were given a black undercoat and the remaining a white undercoat.

The black undercoated parts will be drybrushed with Tin Bitz and Boltgun Metal, whilst the white parts will be painted with a sand colour.

Grot Bomb Launcha

The Forge World Grot Bomb Launcha is probably my favourite model of all time.

Having given my Grot Bomb (from my Grot Bomb Launcha) a base coat of Desert Yellow, the next stage was a wash.

I gave the bomb a wash consisting of Chestnut Ink, Scorched Brown paint (which helps remove the gloss of the ink) and some water to thin the wash down.

I gave the launch structure a basecoat of Chaos Black. For some reason the resin has warped a bit, not sure how that happened, but I think as it is quite Orky, I am going to leave it as it is.

Here’s how the Grot Bomb looks when using one of my Wartrakks as the vehicle for the launcha.

Grot Bomb Launcha

I have put together my third Grot Bomb Launcha.

Grot Bomb Launcha

You can see how I put together and painted my first on this section of my website and how far I have got with the second here.

This casting was so much better than my second model. There was virtually no flash and no warpage (is that a word) either. It fitted together really nicely.

This is probably my favourite model of all time, so I will be pleased when I have finished all three and I have a barrage of them.

Ork Wartrakk Conversion

Though I might use it with my Grot Bomb Launcha…

Following the concept picture I posted earlier, I have now in fact built the Wartrakk tracks.

They are Imperial Tank tracks which I was originally using (many moons ago) for a Gorkamorka project which, well, just work. Therefore rather than using new sprues these have been broken apart which I think makes them a little more Orky.

I added some plastic strip on the back.

This is so there is something to stick to the hull of the Wartrakk.

This is how it looks with the motorbike on the front.

I might use this as a Wartrakk or for a Grot Bomb Launcha.
